previously i am on a 1 year ED visa, but last week when i went for my 90 days extension, my school made some mistakes on my documents and the pooyai at the immigration office outright rejected my extension and tell me to get out the country and get a new visa.

But at the same time, due to some new commitments in my life, i did planned to leave thailand earlier before my ed visa expires. Tentatively around February. But i wish to remain here for couple of months to wrap up things before leaving for good.

i have to fly out by next week and return, so my options are as follow.

1. 30 days stamp upon entry and try to apply for extension

probably the easiest and cheapest way, but i am not sure how easy is it to get an extension with the 30 day stamp. That and with my problems with previous extension, i am concerned the immigration at airport is gonna give me a hard time.

2. Apply for a tourist visa and extension.

Since i am flying to KL, i have to deal with the notorious embassy at KL to get my visa. What are my chances of getting a multi-entry tourist visa?

1. no problem for visa exempt entry and relative extension. Your "refused extension" is not noted on you passport and not even on any database.

2. only single entry tourist visa in KL. Laos is the nearest destination for double entry.

1. That is the problem, the pooyai wrote it down in my passport, something about documents prob and extension not approved etc

2. can i get a single entry in KL and upgrade to a multiple entry in Cheangwattana?

thanks

1. seems a little strange for him to write something, for that he should have issued a 7 days extension and you paid Bt 1,900. Anyway that would be no reason to prevent you from being issued new visa, extensions, or visa exempt entry.

2. There is not "upgrade". You can buy a re-entry permit but that does not change the duration of a tourist visa stay: 60 days extendable to 30 more for a fee of Bt 1,900.
