@ Kruell....

The Sigma cameras....they're very good & use the Foveon sensor....45MP on a 15MP size

(physical) chip. The trick is the RGB layering of the sensitive substrates making up the sensor

itself. Much info on the Sigma website...have a look. Downside is that Sig cameras are just

not as popular as Can's, & Niks's etc...etc...etc...but folks who use em...love em.

Hassies....ahhhh...what a camera! Forget the cost if it's really what you want. I sold my

H4D 50MS body & four lenses early last year for just under 400 USD what I paid for

it all when they first hit the market. Do I miss it? Yeah...but underutilisation is a shame

when it creeps up and creep up it will.

Just an addition to how the late Mr. Merrill's chip works...

http://www.foveon.com/article.php?a=67

Just think of how light works and how it penetrates;

blue...not far, green...bit further, red...pretty deep.

and it becomes pretty simple. Just like sensitive layers

on old film stock!

Perhaps the below should go into the technology thread

however....here it is anyway...

@ A....You are very welcome!

One time, about a little over a year ago I was seriously looking at

Sig's DP1 & SD1 cameras to add to my bag. However the DP1's

only have fixed lenses which meant I'd have to buy the entire

series instead of one body & some lenses...not that economical!

My thoughts & desires of the SD1 were dashed the day Nik

announced the D810 of which I now have along with a D4S.

Anyway...there may still be time in me old age to grab a

"Merrill" before me batteries wear out forever & take it on

an adventure worthy of that sensor.
