PM Gen Prayut to visit Malaysia on December 1st

BANGKOK, 17 Nov 2014 (NNT) - General Prayuth Chan-o-cha will pay a familiarization trip to Malaysia on December 1st and is expected to sign of a cooperation agreement to promote a peace dialogue aimed at resolving the violence problem in southern Thailand.

According to Major General Weerachon Sukhonthapatipak, a member of the Government Spokesman’s team, General Prayut would visit Malaysia as part of his official tour of ASEAN countries in his capacity as the new Prime Minister of Thailand, and would take this opportunity to reinforce bilateral cooperation.

He said that the Thai Prime Minister would discuss with Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on peace dialogues between the Thai government and separatist groups, which had been put on hold since last year due to the political strife. Malaysia played the role of facilitator in previous dialogues.

The Government Spokesperson also clarified that December 1st has been chosen for the trip as it is the earliest convenience date for both the Prime Ministers. He added that details of the visit are being worked out between the two governments.

What is a 'familiarisation' trip to the country next door?. Surely the guy has been there before, or is life so sheltered in this country?

Head to head. Trade, cooperation, southern probs, and a.n. other. Yes life is sheltered for 80% of the Thai people. always was but is improving as some people move from rural farms out to industry.

The General and the missus are getting more frequent flyer miles. Are they going Thai First Class or Business Class? Do they keep the points or do they go to the Government?

Not just bringing it up for the sake of it BUT, how many out of the 50 trips would Yingluck and a host of others that travelled with her on most occasions, would they have amassed.???

Ginjag, the General talked about the junkets and how people were abusing the Thai Air system. I know the General has to meet dignities of other countries, but he is on the move to getting out and seeing the world?

Apart from that, please don't bring me into your fetishes with Ms Y.

Ginjag, I just checked and up until August 2013 Ms Y made 52 trips overseas, but also made many internal flights. One of the reasons for this was to aviod parlimentary debate, but more important to this was to aviod voting on some bills. One of the resons for this could be argued, that by voting on a bill could be grounds to have her removed from office.

"Sometime in the future well a vote (or even deliberating ?) may be viewed as illegal and may result in her being removed from being PM and/or even worse. It is clear that they have decided she should avoid any risk which in some ways is prudent."http://asiancorrespondent.com/112575/why-is-yingluck-not-in-parliament/

Just adding a bit of substance to your point.
