I think responsibility for authorities in developing nations abusing legal systems, using torture, abusibg human rights etc ... has to lie with the examples set by those countries which are supposedly developed.

Look at Guantanamoo, illegal detention and torture on a large scale. Russia and China the same. Children learn by watching, more than listening.

Money. Most People want it, lots of it, and will do.anything to get it. Why?? Because at the moment, most minds believe that humity is divided into a hierarchy and most people.want to feel higher up on that hierarchy than those around them. It's a mentality of competition, rather than cooperation ... and I dont think.the mentality of we humans will change from competition to cooperation until something very extreme humans and we are then forced to.realise that money is a piece of paper, just coloured paper, you cant drink it and you cant eat it or live under it.

Human minds are.very resistant to.change. They change slowly, if at all, unless something extremely emotional happens to them.

So theres no.use Thailand bashing, the problem is everywhere.

What the hell do they need to see the NHRC for.

Prayut and his hand picked crony at the top of the police have already declared the investigation 'perfect'.

Pigs will fly before those two would admit making a mistake on that level.

Seems that the head of police at least has been spending 100's of millions of baht recently as well buying up Shinawatra family assets. Wonder where that all came from.................

Sophistry at it's best. Suggest any connection that suits. Such imagination.

The whole strata of the hiso Thai elite who run this country have vast wealth. Many would he hard pressed to explain and show where it really came from. Some probably can though. But none of them are likely to. Chalerm's "holiday" in Denmark is a classic example of unusual wealth - which blew over so he returned. Thaksin was more transparent with some of his crooked deals as he doesn't give a fig about the law and simply lies. Suthep is always more foggy, alleged but nothing proven. And so it goes on, and on as no one on the roundabout is interested in stopping or getting off. And no one is going to challenge anyone important about where there money came from. Unlike in developed countries where banks now want proof of where even small amounts came from.

You are right that no one will admit to being wrong, making a mistake or not knowing something. Not in this culture, Better to lie than loose face.

I was thinking maybe this is all part of the plan.... drag it all out as long as possible and eventually the 2 lads get released... then the investigation will just go stale a bit like the kirsty jones case in Chaingmai that is still not concluded...

I think the boys will die in jail or will be released and die on the trip back to Burma.

It is a good thing that human rights groups from outside of Thailand are keeping the spotlight on this case. The world is waiting and watching to see how far officials will push this frame-up of the two innocent Burmese boys. Meanwhile, no effort is being made to identify and catch the actual people that did commit that horrific crime.

The perpetrators have been identified, and caught. However, after a few bob exchanged hands with the elite mob something bizarre happened - they got let off, and new perpetrators were suddenly found.

Are you referring to the first group identified, the second, the third? The fourth are in jail awaiting charges.

The reference must be to the two who were and should still be the prime suspects: Mon and Nomsod. A few others were floated as possible suspects early on, but no sensible person gave it any credence. There were short-lived mentions of a jealous farang boyfriend of David's and other such nonsense, which Thai cops were floating in the hopes enough of the stupid masses might latch on to those ideas. Nearly all Thai and nearly all farang who've been following this case closely, agree that Mon and Nomsod should still be the prime suspects, and if there are any more involved in the crime, they too will be involved with the headman. If British experts are brave enough (and are allowed) to submit their evidence, the headman's people (which could include one or more cops or bouncers at his bars) will likely be implicated. It's clear as day that all efforts by Thai officialdom are trying desperately to stifle or belittle any announcements by the Brit experts. Indeed, Thai officialdom has gotten in a bad habit of SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF Brit experts, while the Brits stay silent.

If police fail to meet the new deadline, he said at the November 26 NHRC meeting he will propose that the commission lodge a complaint and take legal action against concerned police officers in accordance with the NHRC Act's Article 34.

Which will result in a number of transfers to 'inactive' posts. What a joke!

This whole case stinks and it'll be interesting to see the report from Scotland Yard in due course.

Posters here have gotten in a bad habit of speaking on behalf of the British experts too.

Alibis were provided and examined on all previous suspects.

It will be interesting to see what the UK police have to say.

Their comments would no doubt have as much weight as the NHRC. but at least a lot more public.

The BIB won't bother to meet the deadline and then what, another of the infamous ' deadline extensions ' then another and ... ?

I'm sure the junta won't order the National Police Chief to ensure compliance since the PM personally backed the investigators to the hilt.

So much for reform.

Was anyone here naive enough to think it would actually happen?

Interestingly enough I have noticed that the forum cheerleaders for the military takeover seem to be giving us all a little less "sis-boom-ba" and "go tigers!" than they were a few weeks back... Just remember folks, raging hatred of the Shinawatra clan is not sufficient reason to trust someone else instead.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm not sure the British Police will even make a public statement on this?

Going by their official statement on their return to the UK "They will now be returning to the UK to compile their report and to update the families of Hannah and David on their findings" http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-29999735

No doubt we will get some information at Hannah's inquest, but apart from any behind the scenes pressure or evidence they may have supplied to the RTP, thats where it currently remains, behind the scenes.

Anyway fingers crossed I am wrong on this

Did you know it's illegal to criticize the leaders?

clap2.gif So says the spokesman for the RTP

Nope, so says the articles about this story.

Yes those same articles are very good at speaking on behalf of the UK

Nope, different articles. Though some posters certainly have no issue with speaking for the British.

jdinasia post # 51.

If his testimony is credible and relevant, I am sure that the defense will call him (if this goes to trial)

So going by your comment above we can now assume you openly support perjury. along with the perversion of justice ?

Hope you never get your collar felt here.

The PM surely did what any good 'manager' who is in control of staff is expected to do ... support his staff until / unless, adverse facts come to light.

A brown kerchief or "bib" worn around the neck so food won't stain your shirt, and can also be used to conceal tea money.
