Look apply at Thai embassy for visa One you will either get it or not period. If you have valid passport mostly will get it. If you use siam legal First they charge way to much but that is a fact. If you can read you can fill the form to apply Just make sure you have proof of funds to support yourself.

I hold US Citizenship however I have a simple battery misdemeanor and DUI convictions,,the SB occured around 98 and the DUI in 99. The cost of the Visa is almost $800 and I don't want to lose it if I am not approved.

As suggested by others, if you really want an O/A you should check with the LA consulate and they reduced notarization policies.

Otherwise obtain a non-imm single entry 'O' and then an 1 year extension of stay in Thailand.

I don't think there any checks on criminal records for temporary visas, including 1 year extensions - only for permanent residence. If there were, Pattaya, Patong and Chaweng would be empty. LOL.

Unless you can issue visas it does not really matter if you're keen or not.

Just do the visa your self.
