Sing Buri ... Lopburi - Best place for a Border Run for another 90 days ?

I am going to be in Sing Buri at the time my 90 day Border Run 'Out and back In' is due -- on or before December 15. I plan on December 12, 13 or 14 to give myself some buffer.

Cambodia 'Paoy Paet' / 'Poi Pet' comes to mind ... but I am being on the safe side and checking to see if there is someplace better. Better meaning good border run service and other more hospitable personnel at the Border Crossing.

Every place but Cambodia as a land border run seems much too far.

Also - are there any locations near Sing Buri / Lopburi that has an airport serviced by the Thai Domestic Airlines.

Thanks to all ...

If driving, Mai Sot would work and not a bad drive. I Know nothing about public transport and services in the area. There have been reports that it had been closed again and do not know if it has reopened. I live in Takfa about 65 kilometers northeast of Singburi and used it a few years ago, the last time in 2004 (time flies as that's ten years ago). I think that the closest airport to Singburi is Don Muang

From Singburi take AH1 (32) north. Just south of Tak turn left on Highway 105. When you get to the roundabout take the third exit and go directly to the border. Park under the bridge. It's about 360 kilometers and should take about 4 - 4.5 hours. The roads are dual until 105, but 105 is single lane twisty road over the mountains.

There is a market on the Thai side with and entrance on the right side of the bridge and also a decent restaurant on the right side of the bridge. The cost of the Myanmar visa is 500 baht and you can take a songtaeu across the bridge. There's not much to see in Myawaddy but you can visit the tourist traps if you want. Post a question about Mai Sot and someone will come back with recent experiences. Good luck.

Wayned - thank you very much... I never heard of this one before... and could be a good answer. I hope the Myanmar visa can be purchased at the border checkpoint.

500baht or $10 (I think) at the Myanmar immigration entrance shack at the end of the bridge.

If you would like to use public transport, you can get a train from Lopburi to Ayutthaya (about an hour) and then catch the overnight sleeper to Nong Khai on the Laos border.

I have done the overnight to Chaing Mai and to Penang and they are reasonably comfortable. The big downside these days is no alcohol.

Lots of info on this website

I have taken that train from Nong Khai to Saraburi - very close to Ayutthaya. And found it to be comfortable. I have considered this already and it just may work out. I am lucky to get good recommendations from fellow TVF members.

I know the Nong Khai bridge crossing into Laos - having done it before. I have some friends in Nong Khai and maybe my G/F would like to go with me.
