notmyself
This is the airport rather than the airline right? I wonder if Bangkok airways will take all the additional slots or will airlines such as Firefly get a look in. With the news a short while back that Penang no longer do a same day service for tourist visas there could be a market for daily flights rather than 3 a week. I booked a flight around a month ago but have to go Tue - Thur rather than Thur - Sat as there were no seats left. The 'crackdown' on Out/in visa exempt entries is certainly making people go and get tourist visas.

phetphet
Does this mean they will start earlier and/or finish later?
Tropicalevo
Does this mean they will start earlier and/or finish later? Probably, but it is difficult enough at the moment getting guests to check out by 4.30 for the 6 am flight!

churchill
More flights = More customers ( hopefully ) = So some scope for Bangkok Airways to reduce prices = Lets hope
notmyself
How many is there at present? 38. So the potential for up to 11 additional flights daily. Can't see there being much demand for earlier flights but for sure extra late inbound ones would be used. 2 flights a day from Singapore maybe? Tropicalevo
I think that we will see more charter flights coming in. eg lots of consideration being given to Chinese guests at the moment.
khunPer
More flights = More customers ( hopefully ) = So some scope for Bangkok Airways to reduce prices = Lets hope Even we more-or-less permanent residents may like to save on airfare and see Bangkok Air to reduce their prices, I will say: Hopefully not…! Why…? Because lower airfares – or lots of cheap charter flights and/or an airport #2 – may bring visitors in, we later will complain about. Nice if high airfares – and hotel prices – keeps the number of visitors down and revenue high (that might be the “quality tourists” TAT wish so much). Think about how many that already complains about Samui has been spoiled by too many tourists, and that the paradise island is no longer what it once was – knowing we cannot “live in the past”, but seeing Samui progress to another Phuket may not be what we wish most… Edited November 27, 2014 by khunPer
