Sitting outside surgery, not really knowing what's going on!

My 1st time experience of this and hope it's my last...

My wife is under going emergency surgery, suspected Ectopic Pregnancy.. I'm sat on my own, feeling a little lost... Googling things just makes it seem worse..

Anyone got any experience or just a joke to cheer me up..?

Sorry to hear this. My friend went through the same ordeal and was perfectly fine afterwards. Stay positive and best of luck to you and your wife.

If she has made it into surgery then the prognosis is excellent. This is a comparatively common occurrence and Thai surgeons have plenty of experience with it.

If it is an ectopic they will probably have to remove the affected fallopian tube. However she can still have children with 1 tube remaining. Therr will be no long term after effects. In the short tetm tho she may have some emotional ups and downd due to thr hormonal changes of abrupt end to pregnancy.

There's some good surgeons here - try to relax.

And stop googling - there's so many 'medical advice" sites and they can tend towards the dramatic to drive their hit rates.

(But sitting in a Thai hospital looking lost and worried is a great way to get pampered by hot nurses!)

Morris , an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.

Turned out to be a ruptured ovary..! She is all good though, going to be in hospital for a few days. Lucky we got here in time I guess...

Hope your wife is ok and recovers fast. I had the same ectopic pregnancy in my ovary, I thought I had food poisoning at the time!

It was very painful because it had ruptured and also had internal bleeding.

It is a very emotional time my hormones were all over the place.

All I wanted was rest, support and love.

They will probably have removed the affected ovary but as with fallopian tube she can stilll have children later with just the one and no effect on menopause etc as the one remaining ovary will produce sufficient hormones.

This could have resulted from either a ruptured ectopic pregnancy or a ruptured ovarian cyst. If the former there will be some mood swings etc.

And of course she'll be sore for quite a while at the incision site.

She must have had this happen on a regular basis then Just kidding but she is fine... Don't think they removed the ovary, was a cyst that ruptured I believe ?

We have a nice room in the hospital, which I hope the insurance covers..!

Main thing is, she got to the hospital in time and is doing well now

They did not remove my ovary, the female surgeon said, and these were her exact words "I scraped it out and stitched the ovary back up"! And she then finished with "I was late picking my daughter up from school due to your operation". This was in the UK though.

I was very sore and struggled to walk for a few days I just shuffled around.

I was advised that this would not effect me getting pregnant again but if I did get pregnant to get a scan as soon as I could to make sure it was not ectopic.
