BANGKOK: -- Four passengers were injured when a homemade bomb exploded on a Bangkok bus Saturday night.

The time bomb detonated by a clock exploded on Bus No 95 at 10:40 am.

The bus was having about 20 passengers and had left Happy Land Market heading to Bang Khen when the explosion occurred when it was in front of Bang Toey Temple near Soi Navamin 101..

Three passengers were slightly injured were discharged from the Lard Prao Hospital after treatments.

The other passenger suffered cuts on the left leg and suffered back injury from the blast impact. He was discharged after treatment.

The bus driver, Jittakorn Prajonghat, 32, told police that the bomb might be planted by four teenagers who got off the bus just a stop before the bomb exploded.

MAYBE, just kids buggering around. Nawamin 101 is not a populated area and is not a predominately Muslim area such as Minburi. If they wanted to make any form of political statement it would have exploded near or at the Happy Land / Bangkapi market which is densely populated.

With the damage caused it must have been a chlorine or ammonia bomb. You would not need a timer on such a device as it will take a while for the pressure to build up in order to explode. This would account for the explosion occurring so shortly after they got off the bus. Added to this that there appears to be no accounts for any shrapnel which means that no nails or nuts such as buckshot had been added to increase damage to the area. More likely just kids playing around, the the newspaper article is poorly written so not much information given!

This sort of thing is actualy more common than many of you realise, There have been a number of small home made explosive devices set off in Bangkok over the past few months and it is generaly accepted that it is teenages messing around.

They often set them off at music festivals in the North of the country too.

If you read the Thai press you will see that this is not a new thing it just so happens Thaivisa does not report most of them.

When 90% of worldwide acts of terrorism are perpetrated by Muslims why shouldn't we think of them as soon as we hear something like this happens? I certainly did, and will continue to so until Muslim extremists learn toleration. I won't be excusing myself for it either.

Without going into details of why and how I know, it has been expected by those who monitor/guess-timate about such things that the problems down south are likely to eventually come to BKK, if just for the "news value" of those actions. If a couple of bombs don't get the hoped for attention in the south, a bomb in BKK would be big international news. Sad but true.
