High Electric Bill

Featured Replies

Now I feel better about my 3,300 baht bill a month. I out of the 4 one will be running about 18 hours a day. I have a large builded in fish pond with use air and pumps 24/7. Security lights on all night, also a frig, wireless internet and of course TV. My home is 150 sq meters. Yes you are paying a lot.

when I use AC often in a studio, my bill is as high as 9k, and it was as high as 12k in a large shared home.

Then something is wrong, you're not paying directly to the government that's for sure, Sounds like you're paying 8 baht per unit or higher. Normal rates are between 4 and 5 baht per unit .

A good reason why I prefer fan cooled apartments. Bills rarely get above 500 per month.

What temperature do you have the aircon set to?

23 degree C

here's the beef!

there's no such thing like a fan that can cool whistling.gif

23°? There's your problem right there. And you use a dryer? I don't think you understand the idea of living in a tropical climate.

and i don't think you understand what huge difference in comfort (towels, underwear, bedsheets, etc.) a dryer can make whether the climate is tropical or not.

No, of course not. I slap my wet laundry against rocks. (That's a pretty stupid statement on your part.)

the attribute "stupid" fits your comments 100%. quite obviously you have not the faintest idea about the difference between "sun dried" and "dryer dried" textiles.

1960 my parents got their first dryer. As a matter of fact, my gf is running the dryer right now, as she's laundress.

your girlfriend does not understand the idea of living in a tropical climate? ohmy.png

I've been following this topic with a mild interest, reading the comments has got me looking at my electric bill and asking my wife how the electric bill are formulated.....Interesting results, I think.

The first thing I find is just how much people in condo are, (I think) being ripped off, not by the electric company but the condo management.

Just to inform; I pay the standard electric charge, (for my usage 15 amp) 3.1777 per unit of electric. This figure will differ slightly, read on.

Unless the government have changed their policy on electrical usage charge the following applies. Under 50 units used in any billing period..... No charge. In general high usage of units will bring a higher FT....Flat rate, I think it very much a Thai way of doing thing.......The more units you use, (air con, fans, lights and cookers) the more you can afford and so....... subsidise the poor, I actually quite like it!

But when it comes to units being used in a condo......... Your on your own, You are just being ripped off by the condo management. The electric company do not charge you more for being in a condo.......Your management do that.
