?? Who can afford what? blink.png

On a 300B wage Thai people can't afford to pay 400B tea money for cops

Most Thais would pay 50 baht

No they don't pay 50B.

They pay 200B and the prices keep rising as more and more idiots are ready to part with their cash just because they can afford it.

It used to be 100B then 200B when is this going to end?

Nonsensical generalization that requires more then just your limited opinion, facts please, some links or something equally informational? FYI you'll notice that I mentioned paying only 200b in my first post, on that point I agree that there is no reason to pay more and hike up the price for everyone ("everyone" meaning expats not Thai's). Still if a Thai can avoid paying the additional amount by paying road side isn't it better to be paying 2/3rds a daily minimum wage then a full day and a half as it would cost had the gone through the full process? You speak like expats in Thailand really have so much influence on what actually goes on there when they really don't, it'll move on like it has for centuries with or without a single expat living there.

I speak like someone who has learned not to mess up local economy with my careless attitude.

And yes being careless just because you can, has a huge impact on corruption and the economy here.

Like it had for years

Op

How did he know your name, if you did not have your licence with you, are you well known in the area.

You speak more like a blinkered idealist, fantasizing about an unrealistic utopia that doesn't exist.

It's not being idealistic to believe the world could be less corrupted since it was that way not long ago.

And it is precisely because we encouraged corruption that it has grown.

I know it because I've seen it: Twelve years ago, you had the odd policeman every now and then asking for 100B

We laughed about it , we said "it's Thai culture"... We paid the guy with a smile.

Now it's everywhere and it's 400B.

What's the next step? 1000B? 10,000B?

It also imprints in Thai criminals' mind that Farangs have not right and make us victims of higher crimes.

Don't encourage corruption !

Sorry but it is not hard to see how petty criminals have graduated to higher crimes against farangs, just because they think we are easy target.

I remember this Australian woman stabbed in the heart for not letting her handbag snatched from her, and so many others.

You're still at it eh? You can stop preaching, I'm not listening and it doesn't seem like too many others are either.

That makes the 2 of you nobody else is listening to.

Thanks for speaking for everyone, but I'm certain you don't qualify to do so.

Just following good example set by you :)

No you'e not, I didn't say that unequivocally like you did, I said "it doesn't seem" that's not the way you posted it, it really would avoid a lot of agro on here if people actually took the time to properly comprehend and use the context clues that are posted.

He would have accepted 200b should always carry some separate side money in another compartment in the car so you don't have to reach into your wallet in front of them as they'll look in your wallet and your fine gets gauged by that a lot of times. I keep my license in my wallet and never leave it in the car. Always on me that way and it is less likely to get forgotten or stolen. FYI don't need to carry your passport, a copy will suffice, leave home tucked safely away.

What about if you forget your wallet ? I leave mine in the car as I never forget the car when going out, lol

Priorities, never done it so I can't speak to the question. To me it's like forgetting the car keys, or my pants, how is it possible? But in the car it has the chance to be stolen by break in or by someone stealing the car, too much hassle to take a chance.

When was the last time you heard of a car getting stolen or broken in too ? more likely to lose or get your wallet stolen !!

Heard of? Yes, that certainly means it doesn't happen? No it isn't more likely to get stolen off of me or lost by me.. You maybe, me no...
