Over 4,000 forums planned for reform
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Reconciliation Centre for Reform will hold 4,248 forums to gauge the opinions of students and adults as to what they want to see included in national reforms, National Reform Commission director Lt-General Pisit Sittisarn said yesterday.

The forums will be introduced this month as part of Stage 2 of the road map laid down by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

The forums will be held under the theme "Thais Have the Same Heart" and will cover the 11 reform areas as introduced by the NCPO. Each Army Region commander will be in charge of overseeing the forums.

Pisit also acknowledged that some reform topics were sensitive and that commanders should be informed and consulted, but he did not elaborate.

Findings will be submitted to the NCPO between June and July next year, he said.

' Some reform topics are sensitive and commanders should be informed and consulted ' !

Translation - don't let anyone attend who will ask awkward questions, make politically incorrect statements or be critical. If anything like that starts get the speakers out fast and take them for attitude adjustment.

What's the bet next June - July the findings to the NCPO will be exactly what they want to hear and will have had overwhelming support in the region of 93.4%.

Maybe they eye the model of India (worlds biggest democracy) with more than 800 parties.

Reminds me on an interview with guitar player Leo Kottke. He was asked how he was able to create such a huge amount and variety of sounds on his instrument.

The answer: "I take a nice and simple melody - and drive it in the ground!"

smoke and mirrors. hand-waving & ignore that man behind the curtain.

won't change the important parts of the constitution which current proposals show will weaken an elected government, deliver more control levers to the elite/military faction, and disenfranchise voters.
