Certainly Chris and Emma will have known. So would a few others, such as staff at the guesthouse. I see no reason to suspect they would have told Sean.

Probably not, but seeing that Sairee beach is so small, that kind of news would have gone around through the bush telegraph in no time.

As I explained in an earlier post, I do not think names will have been the kind of news sent through the bush telegraph. Names are only important details to those who know the victims. On the other hand, everyone will have known exactly what Hannah was wearing when found. That is what people want to know.

Are you quite sure the names were in the original article? The article was updated several times, the latest update at 13:34 October 3. If they did, it would be outrageous and ought to be reported. It leaking out by accident via Twitter is understandable, but a major media outlet knows the rules.

if you don't mind me saying , i know you are all trying to do a good job here , and to unravel a complex crime scene , but simple mis information like

stating that the names were in the early D mail article @ 8.49 is just giving grist to the Mill for your well known , all be it small group of detractors .

I too have followed this case from early morning 15 sept , there have been many short cuts and several dead ends , let alone journalism of the kind " don't let the truth get in the way of a good story ".

Half truths have become myth and then set in stone .

Do not expect so much from the inquests , i attended one recently , i was quite pessimistic about it , thinking it was about to apportion blame for a blameless death , but the actual event was rather innocuous , but help draw a line under an unexplained death .

Now if he were able to divulge that there was evidence of gunshot, or not , or three sets of Seamen on Hannah , that would be of great use and help refocus minds all round .

Agree with part of your reply.

Tomorrow is only case review. its not the inquest.

Daily Mail did name them though. If your not sure email the reporter he will tell u what time he was advised.. anyway that's all if what's and whens.

Timeline Sean.

On the night of the murder mon claims. Sean ran into the bar covered in blood. Jok (a worker) cleaned the blood ?

Noon 15th sven chat about murders . ?

8:00pm 15th party ?

12:30 fb 16th oh;not you?

1:00 fb 16th love;love ?

One needs to look at

A.the time the names were released. 15 or 16.?

B. What time Sean gave the firstinterview on the beach. The calm interview. ?

We can add it to our time line of sean⏳

And don't forget the witnesses that claimed he came to the bar accompanied by Chris Ware...

Lawyer U Aung Myo Thant, a member of the team, told Mizzima they were calling on the court to summon Mr Christopher Ware and Mr Sean McAnna - friends of the two British murder victims Ms Hannah Witheridge and Mr David Millar - as they could be main witnesses in the case.

“Myanmar witnesses testify that they (Mr Ware and Mr McAnna) are related to the case. When they entered into the bar, they had injuries. Bloods stains were on their guitar. And the time was around 4 o’clock in the early morning,” said U Aung Myo Thant. “But they said they had a motorcycle accident and then they were released. Therefore, we officially requested the court to question them again.”

Interesting re-reading that again. 'They had a motorcycle accident'. This reads as if Sean and Christopher both had the motorcycle accident? Was Christopher on the island at the time Sean said he had the accident? Sean did say somewhere (facebook maybe) when the accident happened but I can't be certain where I read this. How good a friends were the two men? Did Sean know Christopher as well as he knew David (which I don't think was that well from what I've read even through he has referred to him as 'Bother'). It throws a new light on everything if there is any truth in the above quote from Mizzima. Especially since Christopher left the island so soon after the crime and Sean was apparently told to hang himself.

No I found another one. 15th

East Anglian Daily times.

10:47. I would say the names were well known by noon on 15th.

I will lay a large bet that this was long before the official announcement in Thailand, and that relatively few tourists and fewer Thai locals and Burmese guest workers were reading the East Anglican Daily News. Probably, Hannah's local paper's journalists were alerted by friends or family and, knowing the family already knew, felt justified in jumping the gun. [You probably realize this, but 10:47 UK time is 16:47 Koh Tao time,so even if the East Anglican Daily News was one of Sean's favored news sites, he might not have checked the site before starting his bar crawl.]

I decided to go back and check. Hannah's local paper actually published September 15 at 10:47 PM (that is September 16 at 04:47 am in Koh Tao):

http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/updated_thai_police_chase_leads_after_university_of_essex_student_hannah_witheridge_found_murdered_on_thailand_beach_1_3771474

This was later than The Mirror and The Nation reports I linked to earlier

There was a night vigil on the night of the 15th.

My guess is everyone knew who it was about lunchtime. Sean had drinks with sven at noon. He must have known. See these little liesy pies add up.

I ask again, who is Sven and what is his connection to all this? You say Sean had drinks with Sven at noon. Where did you get this information from?

Ask berribert.

Sven Hutchinson. Apparently they met at noon. Sven asked Sean about the cuts. Apparently it should be on cctv though I seriously doubt that now.

Sorry I assume you mean berybert ? I have never heard of anyone called Sven being involved in the crime or surrounding reports.

What I have found out is that you are nothing but a troll.

I did not say sven was involved in a crime. I just requoted kreng to say he had drinks with Sean. I don't know why you would call a troll. That was a bit nasty. See my post #2624. There are inaccuracies in the Mizzima report. No, they did not both have a motorcycle accident. Chris Ware got his injuries in an accident with a burning skipping rope on Koh Phangan, before he and David went to Koh Tao. As far as I know, Sean said he had a motorcycle accident on or around September 11th. He didn't say where exactly it occurred, but it is presumed to have happened on Koh Tao. Nowhere has it been reported that Chris Ware knew Sean McAnna. David only knew Sean from when they were both living in Leeds, when David was at Uni there.

Bit more on Sean's accident: https://crimesontheblog.wordpress.com/2014/10/13/soundcloud-1st-13-10-2014/

Only arrived in Thailand September 9th and went straight Tao from Surat Thani airport.

...

I've seen that csila page. It's utterly ridiculous. A punch knife would have broken my bone. I have evidence that my cut was from the 9th, a few days before my mate was killed. It was from the same time I got the "cut" on my leg which is actually an exhaust burn from my bike.

Elsewhere, he expands further on how the accident happened: trying to control a bike while holding a bag and guitar. If you really want, I shall dig it out.
