Soldiers Confiscate 'Thaksin Strawberry Jam'

Prayut rules contesting for PM's post in next election

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Tuesday declined to comment on a proposal by National Reform Council's political reform committee to have the prime minister elected directly.


He said he would never contest for a PM's seat because he does not want to be a politician.

Appeals Court upholds Arisman sentence

BANGKOK, Dec 9 -- Thailand's Court of Appeals today upheld the 12 month prison sentence for red shirt leader Arisman Pongruangrong for defaming former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. There is no suspension of sentence due to his reference to the royal institution.

Koh Tao murder trial date brought forward by 2 months

The hearing of witnesses in the murder case of two British tourists on Surat Thani's Koh Tao has been moved from February 25 to December 26, 2014, after the Myanmar defendants pleaded not guilty to the six charges against them.

Oil prices cut by 40 satang but E 85 unchanged again

BANGKOK: -- PTT Plc and Bangchak today announced the reduction of gasohol and gasoline prices by 40 satang, effective 5 a.m. tomorrow.
However E 85 will remain unchanged at 22.80 baht, and diesel stay the same at 28.39 baht.


The oil price reduction was agreed upon at the meeting of the National Energy Policy Committee chaired by Mr Narongchai Akrasenee after Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha questioned the industry minister during the cabinet meeting why local price was not adjusted down to the same ratio of global price fall.

The new oil prices for Gasoline 95 will be 39.86 baht, Gasohol 95 32.80 baht, Gasohol 91 30.78 baht, E 20 29.48 baht.
