Everyone knows i like to exercise (within reason) but even I got fat by eating the wrong things in the past. Since that time I have understood that diet (food intake) is more important than exercise for keeping your weight and gaining muscle or loosing weight and loosing fat.

I am always looking for stuff to help me cook food that is at least eatable but good too. I got a contact grill, a cold press juicer and other stuff to make preparing and eating food easy and fast.

Fried chicken is good protein but the fats are not that good, I had a halogen oven and baked chicken, put it in my grill to and so on. However i recently bought a philips airfryer (similar to a halogen oven but easier to clean and better for preparing stuf). I can really recommend the thing its easy it even makes french fries without fat (parents are over and like that kind of stuff).

But for me making fried chicken it it is now so easy and fast and it comes out consistent. The only bad thing I add are the breadcrumbs but that is as bad as it gets. Its not golden brown like fried in oil but today going to try to spray some olive oil on it before putting it int he fryer.

I will let people know, but for me the basic of keeping weight off and staying in shape is eating mostly at home and preparing your own food.

I used to "fry" chicken in the teflon pan without fat and without olive oil on it. When it is finish I put an egg or two over it and wait till it is semi hard.

Works very well.

Taste: No risk of over-eating on it rolleyes.gif.pagespeed.ce.hZ59UWKk-sK1nV

I must say the fried chicken that i make comes out quite ok (with the bread crumbs). It even does french fries well.. but it takes a while. But dad seems to like them and i tasted they are ok.

For preparing food it needs to be easy... fast and good to clean. The airfryer does it all for me . The contact grill that I have is good too this just adds a few more things to my arsenal of quick and healthy (as far as I am concerned) sports foods.

I think you should remove "fast" from you post, because 30 minutes or more for a portion of french fries I can't call fast.

I can't speak for other food items, but I suppose that if french fries takes much longer than frying them the traditional way, that it for other items would be the same.

Nope.. chicken and other products go much faster can do fried chicken in 10 minutes. (i consider 10 minutes fast) but if you fry it in oil its probably faster and a lot worse for you

That is interesting. When I am alone I just eat the dry "fried" chicken, or just cold can of tuna, don't care the taste.

But with wife here I sometimes fry in oil with bread crumbs. From the kcal no problem as I only eat once per day, but when I eat fat and useless carbs I don't get enough protein.

I think nothing can beat some pork with breadcrumbs fried in lard licklips.gif.pagespeed.ce.v-hsVd-WpuEQxr

After trying oven fries, I also tried dry friers and I never got good taste for fries from any of them.

Frying is simply impossible without fat, they should call the other process dry grill or baking or whatever, but not frying.

yes without fat it doesn't taste the same. It is something different.

the 'halogen' type was mentioned earlier - well yes, bugga that, as I don't want to need to wear sunnies in the kitchen eh! cool.png.pagespeed.ce.jz1nB6CMOIVslCCv-1

So, we use the equivalent 'convection' model that uses the conventional electric stovetop black-coil element.

cooking chippies (with a fat taste) can be done - no one is stopping you spraying a little bit of oil over the potato pieces before you seal and cook.

The excess fat gunk melts drips off and blows away in the process of the whirling hot hurricane inside.

Don't have one those actual airfryers, but wouldn't the same pre-treating oil idea work on them too?

Comparing the types: can the airfryer concurrently cook a whole chicken, a bunch of little french fries, a whole potato; and even some greens wrapped in foil - where all foods are cooked evenly throughout irregardless of the individual portion sizes?

The convections can!

No it can't its smaller, I like it better as the convection that I have. I think it all depends on what you use it for. One big plus is that cleaning is faster and easier as the convection one. I still own the convection one but it will be gathering dust soon. The convection ones that i saw were just of lower quality (temperature settings and such)

You are right if you just spray a bit of oil on the fries its done too.

On that part i tried putting oil in a plant spray but that did not come out good so i suppose oil is thicker as water are there special oil sprays (ideally i just want a spayer that i can fill with olive oil) its not for the french fries as I dont care that much about them.

Never mind found it on ebay. (edit)

Could you please provide a url for the Air fryer from Lazada, thanks in advance

http://www.lazada.co.th/philips-airfryer-hd9220-black-164806.html

here but please do your research before buying. I don't want to be responsible if you don't like it. I like it a lot for what I want from it. I have used the convection / halogen ovens and like this more for speed and accuracy (fries more consistent IMHO but you can do larger portions in halogen ovens)

This link is the cheapest i have seen it normally they go for 7990

Just worried i sounded like a salesman, I like the machine for my uses. Just bought an oil spray too so i could if i wanted to spray a bit of olive oil on my fried chicken before frying.

For me a big part of staying in shape is cooking my own food and making sure i eat the right stuff and not get bored with it. Its a lifestyle choice i lost 25 kg a few years back and kept it off but I always need to make sure I eat the right stuff. I cant really relax.

So new machines that make cooking easier for me are always welcome. I read a few reviews about it and decided I like it. But its a small machine, good for 1 or 2 persons. If I have friends over it would be a bit harder to do. (just a bit longer wait then).

The french fries came out ok in my book but of course taste differs between people.

Before I looked for a better convection oven but they were all those cheap 1000-1500 bt things that did not cook consistenly (though they did help me make a nice beef roast)

My 2 cents

Saw one at the new Home Pro on Sukumvit in Pattaya and they had some french fries for tasting. I was, sorry to say, not the least bit impressed. But french fries probably have 90% of their taste do to the oil they are "fried" in, so FF might not be an accurate taste test for this machine

To be honest there is an difference between fries that are fried in oil and of course those in the airfryer.

I use it mainly for making fried chicken and stuff like that, i love it its fast and easy to clean (important as I clean my own stuff)

For the fried chicken i just take 1 egg and breadcrumbs and some spices. Then put the chicken in the egg and after that use it on breadcrumbs and spices. Then in the air-fryer and after 12 min its done (though you have to take them out then else it gets soft)

One extra remark the airfryer is not that big (the holding basket) so its probably best for a 2 person household or something like that.
