NRC President: Direct election of PM remains undecided

BANGKOK, 9 December 2014 (NNT) - The President of the National Reform Council has stated that the proposed election of the prime minister remains undecided while declining to give any comment.

According to NRC President Tienchay Kiranant, no one should be concerned about the proposal by an NRC committee that the prime minister and the entire cabinet members should be directly elected by voters, saying no resolution has been reached on this suggestion yet.

However, he appreciates all opinions and debates as he believes the issue will not confuse the public given all should already be aware that the interim charter is open for all ideas that will be subject to screening, Mr. Tienchay said.

He added that members of the NRC and the National Legislative Assembly will be making an official trip to China to see the progress of its reform works, during December 10 and 13, on the invitation of the Chinese government following an earlier visit to the country by Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha.

There must be 100 plus do good committees out there throwing out brain farts as fast as they can drink a shot of beer. Maybe that is what their are doing in between these grandous ideas that have ranging from forgiveness of all criminals, to seizing their assets, banning booze on holidays, life time political bans for those disliked. judical reform, including term length, tax overhaul, government officals selection process to change but no one understands the one that was in operation, much less understand what they have, other countries have, nor what is needed to solve Thailands multitude of problems.

Most of the people of Thailand who are seemly tasked with what lies ahead in regard to needed reform are not qualified nor educated to handle such a enormous task. Everyone of these unqualified people seems to want to hurry the process up just to ensure nothing will be improved.

The current government has only put, " want to targets " out for timing. The good reform ideas are there, get them in place, no matter how long drawn it out takes. The private sector government/civil servants have failed the country and its people and expections of the world, for many many years, Let someone who has been good at a smilar responsibility take the lead reins for a while (a long while)

They should ask the people of Thailand if they want an elected PM? A referendum should be held with one vote per person. If they vote yes we want an elected PM then a democracy would be formed by the NRC if the people vote No they don't want an elected PM then they could follow the system in place in other countries such as China, Singapore, Venesuala, etc...
