I don't have an iphone but I know there is this feature in iphones, called '' frquent locations'' in the location services settings. This records all the locations the phone has been and also the duration of each place, awesome and handy feature.

Now, the things is, I have an android phone and I wonder if there is an app or other way to download those frequent locations records. Or any other way to see/track the location of an iphone user.

Any savvy software/pc/phone expert here knows?

There are many tracking apps for android and iPhone.

Some apps do a lot more. Some will access most things in the cell. Such as text SMS. Email etc etc.

One main purpose was for parents to "monitor" their children's activities. Also handy if cell is lost or stolen.

Many apps can do this but your google account may already be doing it.

Login to gmail from a computer and go to account and then location history. If not already on you can do so.

I'm thinking OP has a reason for a suitable app..... And its not to know where he has been and for how long...

Wink wink , nudge nudge

That is very observative of you jacksam, wink wink...nudge.

The reason is indeed sort of monitoring my kids activities on their iphones and also their location, I need to know where they hang out and for how long etc.

What are the apps you guys mentioned? I will check them out.

Here is the information. Apple devices have basically a sort of secret file that

tracks everywhere you have been. This is NOT a piece of tracking software that

can loaded into the phone, but rather is Apple tracking you. Apple got a lot of heat

over this, so not sure if they quietly removed it in later software updates. Apple said

that the carriers were loading this vile piece of software themselves, so not really

sure what the real story is...

Does that still work with iOS 8? Doesn't work for me.

The ignorance of the anti-apple brigade never ceases to disappoint.

EVERY smartphone does this kind of tracking, because it is used to create better accuracy of maps. It associates known wifi spots with gps coordinates in order to create better accuracy for the assisted gps locations.

The difference is that Apple anonymize the information before retrieving it (your information isn't needed for what Apple needs it for), while Google associates this same location data with your phone's unique identifier and personal information, so it's far from being anonymous.

Apple also has reduced the amount of data held on the iPhone to a week (it used to be a month or so) before it is being sent back. There is no limit on the data Google holds.

Additionally, in iOS 8 the data has been even further locked down to no longer be accessible at all.

Finally, the carrier loaded tracker is something completely different. Most carriers have distanced themselves from it and no longer employ it. It was browser tracking.

Actually I am pro Apple, with a Iphone, an IPad, and a Macbook pro computer. Correct it was initially carrier based tracking. When the story blew up big time, Apple backtracked and said

it did not know what the carriers were doing. A bit hard to believe. But anyway I believe

that with newer software versions that was not allowed to be installed by the carriers. My understanding was that ALL the data on your phone was sent to the carrier, and you had to trust them that it was " anonymized". Google is pretty hard core, but only regading search. Meaning

if I do a search on air compressors, the next time I load, search lo and behold ads for air compressors pop up on the side of the screen.....

If you want to track a phone, there is lots of software to do that including the built in Find my Iphone.
