Report on Thai Embassy in Paris

Just an update on my experience of the Thai Embassy in Paris. After a few questions on TV, my wife and myself decided to bite the bullet and give it a go. I was expecting to worst. We got there at about 0930 on Wednesday, picked up our ticket for being processed, our ticket was 59, the read out meter was showing 33, mmnnn a little bit concerned. Infact there was no reason to be, it probably took about 90 minutes at the most to get to the desk. We were applying for a Tourist Visa hoping to update whilst we are in Thailand (we didn't have enough funds to show for non immo o). Before we got to the counter a young Thai lady checked all our documents (as she did with everyone elses), she said they were in good order so confidence lifted a little. However when the gentleman at the counter checked the doc's, he said I cannot get a Tourist Visa without a return flight (flights booked just one way) Then he suggested, why don't I get a non immo based on marriage, I said I don't have suffient funds in the bank for that, to which he replied, "I am not bothered about the money" We were granted a non immo o based on marriage, when we went in for a tourist visa. There should be 3 working days to pick up the visa from the embassy, but my wife explained to him we have come a long way and could we pick it up on Friday instead of the following Monday, he totally complied. So we pick up our visa tomorrow and my wife wants to give him some chocolates. Happy Happy.

This is interesting considering there is no rule saying you need to have booked any flight regardless of whether it's a return or onward flight before you apply for a tourist visa.

Yes I agree, Ubonjoe said you do not need a return flight for any visa, but regardless I was very happy with the out come, considering the bad press I have heard about the Thai Embassy.

Well, the embassy in Paris have a rule..

The items required

5. A copy of the booking airline ticket with details (entry ticket and exit from Thai territory within less than 90 days)

Same same but different in Sweden

6. Evidence of travel to Thailand such as a copy of e-ticket showing arrival and departure dates for Thailand. If you wish to apply 2 or 3 entries, please note that you must show all flight tickets/e-ticket/or confirmed travel arrangement entering Thailand for every entry. We do not accept airlines staff card or stand by ticket.

Great news you got the non-o visa. clap2.gif

I suspect if you had wanted a multiple entry visa they would of wanted to see the money.

The problems with the embassy in Paris is not the people taking the applications it is their nonsense rules.

The ticket out for a tourist visa varies from location to location with some asking for it and others not.

The MFA website has this for tourist visas "Evidence of travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full)". http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123/15398-Issuance-of-Visa.html
