Russian Ruble Hits New Low

What will the "big man" do next?

Sorry, Putin. Russia’s economy is doomed

...
Putin might be playing chess while we play checkers, but only if we lend him the money for the set.

Here's Why the Russian Ruble Is Collapsing
...
In an ideal world, Putin would see that his economy is crumbling (the weakening currency and surging interest rates make for a deadly combination of economic contraction and rampant inflation) and take steps to convince Europe and the U.S. to ease the sanctions. That would probably be enough to stem the panic and also offer real economic benefit. To do that, he'd have to dramatically pull back activity in Ukraine; frankly, that's extremely unlikely. Putin's adventures in Ukraine are very popular in Russia, and that's the one thing he has going for him.

Get out of the Ukraine and Crimea and your problem's might go away Comrade Putin

and let the Rotchilds central bank opens up in Moscow

The conspiracy freaks are soooo upset. Hopefully they bought some roubles in solidarity these last few weeks.

Dollar only stores in Russia must be making a killing. Always did well but now.......

Some of us remember the old foreign currency stores in Moscow. Nothing much to buy though. Plus the glories of the GUM store.

Now don't say that. There was plenty of military medals and uniform stuff to buy, not to mention the cool fur hats thumbsup.gif

In those days the military medals and uniform stuff wasn't for sale in the foreign currency stores. Just crap souvenirs that fell apart plus yes the fur hats but the fur hat prices were set so high that hardly anybody bought them. I do remember the shops taking sterling coins so they were able to give change for notes. If they ran out of say sterling change, you would get the change in whatever coins were available. The hotels though had dollar bars plus rouble bars that weren't worth visiting.
