Prayut begins official visit to China today

Featured Replies

If the Thai elites were a proactive and forward thinking bunch, they may have kept their own railway up to date.

The Thai elites own road haulage firms and don't take the train.

Posting more nonsense and untruths?

How many trips did Yingluck make and how many days were spent outside Thailand whilst she was PM/DM?

How many trips has Prayut made so far and how many days spent outside Thailand since he became PM?

As usual, the Shin fans don't want to let facts and the truth get in the way.

It takes quite a few visits to try to offload the 14 million tons of rice that is of poor quality

Even prisoners and political outcasts in camps deserve to eat good rice once in a while

I dont know, but he sure as hell appears to be abroad a lot, predominantly in China, Myanmar and Malaysia.

What are the facts? how many days has he been away, and how much was YS? I presume if you are saying its not true, then you have the actual data?

Even if he is away less than YS, its probably more to do with the fact only a handful of countries would accept a visit from him rather than anything else.

So the future is China then ?

It would seem so , although if another elected Government tried to back out of the China deals they may find the door closed , that's a worry .

Previous governments were also friendly to very friendly with China. That doesn't suggest any intention to 'back out' whatever government Thailand may get.

Indeed. Uncle Thaksin and his various administrations seemed to be getting more pally with the Chinese. He's still regular visitor.

Given the amount of influence exerted in Thailand by those of Chinese ethnic origin, gravitating towards China would seem somewhat logical and natural. China will continue its policy of slowly expanding its influence over SE Asia and AsiaPac. The Chinese are already influential in sub Sahara Africa, see the Yuan being talked of in terms of replacing the USD eventually as the reserve currency, hold massive investments in the US and in US dept, and realized a long time ago financial muscle trumps military muscle over the long term.

Agreed - you don't know. But doesn't stop you posting it as though it's true.

The main reason Yingluck was sent out the country was to keep her out of parliament and so she could "legitimately" claim she was away and knew nothing when the shit hit the fan on certain things. She couldn't be questioned or made to debate whilst traveling. The real decisions and work were being done by others.

His prime concerns should be with ASEAN countries. Myanmar is a key supplier of energy, Malaysia needs to be on board with efforts in the South and China are discussing massive projects with very long term consequences. Understandable where his efforts are being concentrated.

How many countries have actually banned him from visiting? I only know of Australia - hardly likely to be a worry to the Thai government. An unimportant country of little consequence in the scheme of things. They have their own problems looking at their current government and economic decline.

Yngluck was a puppet who simply did as her brother told her. She implemented his policies, his decisions and followed instructions. I'm sure she enjoyed all the trips, even if she did have to take Mama Noodles with her. But they were very light weight, agreements with Montenegro etc., and imaginary rice sales.

What might be a better question is given the current focus on China, who is deciding policy, what are the policies and who is acting as an opposition to challenge the policies through parliamentary debate. Someone should be checking just exactly what might be signed up to before it's too late.

And neither do you know, but it does not stop you posting that its not true!!

You then go on to ramble more opinion on the reasons for YS travelling so much, again which may be true, it may not be- but you are posting it as if its fact. If they wanted to keep YS without responsibility, why did they bother putting her as Chair of the Rice etc? If they wanted her not to take to much responsibility, there are plenty of ways they could distant her from certain schemes.

The question is then why is Prayuth travelling so much? To stop him making PR gaffes at home? Let me guess your opinion is that he is single handily making ground breaking agreements which will drive the Thai economy to unprecedented highs for the benefit of all Thai's for decades to come whilst combining this with overseeing a one man crusade against corrupt practices?

The Chinese can't wait to exchange their yuans for baht, which they can then use to acquire USD's. Meanwhile the Thais will have to settle using the yuan to purchase only more Chinese goods. A Win-Lose.

I dont know

You really should have stopped right there - because reading further just exposes and confirms your utter disregard for facts and truth. Which effectively jettisons any credibility you hope to have, for all time in the future.

This is no different than GOP acolytes in the U.S. frequently referring to Obama as 'vacationer in chief', When in fact George Bush easily held the record for most vacation days while in office, and Obama held the least - when asking those people those same questions, their answer is the same "I don't know, and I don't care, *BUT I KNOW FOR SURE...*"
