New India Visa On Arrival

Featured Replies

I have been postponing a trip to India for a long time because I didn't like their Visa application process. I thought the negatives were: You pay up front but you don't know if you get 5 or 10 years, I don't like mailing my passport around, I don't have a trip planned or a specific destination so I thought there was too much of a chance they wouldn't like my application and would reject it but keep my money, etc. But now they are offering an online process for a 30 day visa on arrival. The cost seems to be $60 USD. This sounded good. However, looking at the online application, it asks for an expected travel date, a port of entry, etc. I can't see how much time or validity the visa has. The nature of my job just doesn't allow me to plan much in advance, which is why I go to Thailand and their True Visa on Arrival works great for me. For an Indian trip, I most likely would do it from Thailand while I was there, but I might start in The USA. The whole idea of a Visa on Arrival is I don't have to plan which is why Thailand works great for me.

Has anybody gone through the recent Indian Visa On Arrival process? The online form I have tried to look at also includes a religion question. I don't like that. I just went through a "dummy" application run. I put in a bunch of information just to get through the online form. It asks for an incredible amount of information, much of which I don't know such as entry and exit, travel dates, where I might visit etc. They are just collecting information. Thailand, this round goes to you. I should be there in February. I love the "up to you" as far as where I might go.

Thanks
