Robby nz
The Mrs has a Nikon D1300 with a tamron 70/300 lens I would like to get hold of an extender for it if that is possible. Any ideas where the best place to try for such a thing in BKK would be ?
Goshawk
i take it you mean a D3100 . . (and a teleconverter) is it worth it Robby? that Tammy is a slow lens & i don't think the Nik TC's will work with it. The Kenko might, but you'll lose 1 stop of light at least with any brand you use for sure, and maybe some autofocus too. Fotofile in MBK will stock/help/advise.
SoiBiker
Teleconverters are rarely a good idea. You'll end up with a lens that's too slow for it's length and of little use. No such thing as a free lunch. Save your money for a longer lens.
Tywais
Pros & Cons of using Teleconverters (Extenders) That Tamron is a f/4-f/5.6 so will need a pretty bright day at the long end and a tripod due to the longer shutter speed needed.
Goshawk
Save your money for a longer lens. this is very good advice . . . if you're thinking about birds, the Tammy 150-600 f5/6.3 is a miles better option for you. (almost picked one up myself for the D7100 a few month ago....may still do yet, it has some nice glass in it for the speed/price)

sunshine51
Teleconverters ("extenders") are primarily used on prime telephotos such as 300mm, 400mm, 600mm etc. Before using one on any zoom, of any make/manufacture, please check that the TC is compatable or else you will destroy your mirror & shutter mechanism in one press of the shutter release as the mirror will not clear the back end of the TC. Be warned, be advised. Happy Holidays. PS...Soibiker gave geat advice.
