BANGKOK: -- THE OFFICE of the Auditor-General is looking into the Bt7.1-million Line sticker project that sought to promote the 12 national core values.

The chosen supplier, Thai TV Pool Company, is the only firm to submit a quotation for the project and has agreed to lower its offered price by just Bt400 during negotiations with the project owner, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Dated December 18, a letter from the Office required the ICT Ministry to explain the project in writing and submit related documents for examination.

The ICT Ministry, which held a press conference to unveil the designs of the Line stickers on Monday, has already responded to the Office demand and is now waiting to hear the state prosecutors' decision.

If the Office does not object, the ministry plans to go ahead with signing the contract with Thai TV Pool.

This special set of Line stickers is scheduled for free downloading from December 30 onward.

On November 7, the ICT Ministry approved this project and the use of a special procurement approach.

A committee on the special procurement had approached eight firms, including a supplier recommended by Line, but only Thai TV Pool decided to tender the proposal and quotation. Meanwhile, Line confirmed that the ICT Ministry had denied reports that it was monitoring Line messages.

Since Line has been encrypting all messages, it is technically impossible to monitor Line conversation by any third party.

"Line users' privacy is our top priority, hence we do not allow other third parties to monitor Line messages," said a spokesperson.

400 THB of 7 million! This is 0.00005 %

These Ministers guys are tough negotiators.

Or maybe, what they negotiated was not the price of the invoice but the amount of the (censured).

By the way, there was a misunderstanding. We think about virtual stickers and they quoted 1 millions of plastic printed stickers.

Now wouldn't it be a major embarrassment if the dear leaders teachings were the subject of corruption ?

Did someone say that corruption IS a core value in LoS ? giggle.gif

I think the quote you're looking for is this one:

"There is no corruption in the system in Thailand; corruption is the system"

I can't remember now who said it, but it probably wasn't Sepp Blatter.

It was the taxi fare to the meeting. Still inflated.

Anyone else thinking that 7.1 million could be better spent on something other than stickers?

say like hospitals, or schools, environment, etc???

I wonder if any 10 year old with a laptop could come up with a better design for stickers? and they would do it for a bag of (peanuts)

as for corruption,,, wasn't the last auditor general caught up in her own corruption case?

Microphones anyone/?????

AMAZING THAILAND............

Got it!

The total amount is high because, instead of taking a taxi, they BOUGHT a Benz to go to the appointment.
