Am in Pattaya for a visit and as I remember, there was a Jazz bar/restaurant located close to Beach road/second road, around soi 6-4, anyone know the name of the place, is it still around?

The JazzPit inside PIC Kitchen Thai restaurant on Soi 5 Beach Road.

These days, just a solo guitarist with backing tracks and not every night as he rotates between there and Sugar Huts in Jomtien,

And I believe that that whole Soi 5 complex will move to Sugar Huts soon - if it hasn't already.

Something we are severely lacking here in Pattaya. Jazz!!

A place worth checking out is Mood. Not Jazz, but great blues. Thursday to Friday is Paul and his crew. Saturday to Sunday is Snowman and his crew. Great musicians.

The resident guitar player is certainly great but it's with banking tracks and very standard stuff. There were better days when a full blown jazz band was playing there with improvisations and all. Those days are gone....

There's this geezer was playing solo sax to backing tracks on Beach Road most nights prior to the pop-up shopping arcade kicking off. He'll probably be back in the new year. Music to slit your own throat to is the category I would put it in.

Playing jazz then?

All those live bands are way too loud and annoying. I don't stay at my usual hotel when in Patts anymore, for the reason one of the nearby bars started inviting live musicians and I couldn't get to sleep until very late.

I would put him in the category of Sidney Bechet on valium.

What was the hotel?

The Pig and Whistle. Soi 7.

It's not in the quietest area but I'm half deaf so the noise never bothered me. Ever since the live bands came to scene, it's way too loud there even for me.

It's a shame that the majority of Thai people didn't take the music taste from the beloved King.

Imagine that at every corner a live band plays Jazz rolleyes.gif

They have! Unfortunately, the best venues are in Bangkok. Foreigners and the young Thais that come to Pattaya don't seem to care for it much. Unfortunately.
