Dear Readers,

What I am about to ask has been on here many times before, in fact I got the information about becoming the lawful father of my children from here which is great, however For today I would like total up to date information.

I wish to change my work permit connected Non B visa to a family (my children) connected Non O visa.

Does anybody know where and how to do it?

I am based in Phuket, and if I go into Phuket Immigration they refuse to answer questions without oiling their palms etc. When I call, I am just told to contact Bangkok.

When I call Bangkok, I am told to contact my local office (Phuket).. So of course I can't get answers.

Can anybody advise?

My info- 31 years old, lawful father of 2 Thai children, not married to mother but have the lawful documents of being the father, English, have WP.

Thanks to anyone who can help.. :)

Do you have a non-b visa from an embassy or consulate or a one year extension of stay from immigration?

You cannot change visa types.

You can just apply for an extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai. All that is required is a non immigrant visa entry.

If on an extension already you would have to wait until it ends to change the reason for your extension.

Thanks for your advise ubonjoe.

Sorry, neglected to mention; I am currently on a 3 month single entry visa issued in London

You should be able to apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage with your non-b visa entry.

You will need 400k baht in a Thai bank in your name only for 60 days (maybe 3 months in Phuket) or proof an income of 40k baht. If you want to use the income from your job you will need to show at least 2 months of tax payments.

If you need more time to apply for the extension you could get a 60 day extension to visit your wife and then apply for the one year extension.

Sorry it was habit to write marriage. It is the same requirements but by the rules the money only has to be in the bank on the day you apply but I understand Phuket does not go by the rules and wants it to be there the same amount of time.

Small detail; if you go for the 60 day 'visiting children' route then Phuket Labour will not accept this particular category of stamp for a Work Permit renewal/issue.

If you subsequently get a One Year Extension of Permission to Stay based on supporting Thai Children of which you are the Legal Father, then this should be Ok with Phuket Labour..

I remembered that rubbish policy of the Phuket work permit office. But the OP's post indicates he already has his work permit.
