NAN, Dec 29 -- Tourism is booming in Thailand's northern and southern regions alike, just ahead of the approaching New Year.

Both Thais and international visitors have been flocking to various tourist destinations in Thailand's northern Nan province, especially the Ancient Salt Wells in Bo Kluea district.

The attractions has been receiving 2,000 visitors daily, as most are interested in seeing the salt wells in the middle of a village used to produce rock salt, the only mountain salt production in the world.

Apart from visiting the salt wells, tourists also get the chance to experience peaceful nature and cooler temperatures.

Visitors can also get great bargains in the form of salt produced by local villagers as souvenirs for their families and friends.

Meanwhile, Wat Phra Srirattana Mahatat Woramahaviharn in Pitsanulok province was packed with local tourists, using using the opportunity to stop at the temple to pray to the Phra Buddha Shinarat statue for good luck and fortunes while on their way back to their hometowns in the northern and northeastern Isan regions.

Many tourists also brought their families to make merit before heading out to their final destinations.

Further south, many tourist attractions in Songkhla province have also become crowded ahead of New Year, particularly at Samila Beach, which has been crowded with Thai, Singaporean and Malaysian tourists alike.

All very nice!!

But where are the foreign tourists, who actually creates an income for the country??

All respect for local tourism, but it is just moving the money from one pocket to another!!

Article clearly states

"Both Thais and international visitors have been flocking to various tourist destinations in Thailand"

Plenty of foreign tourists dropping money here as we speak.

When looking at international tourist numbers entering Thailand in October 2013 and October, 2014 it seems that 2014 is the winner according to this graph here. Tourist arrivals to Thailand in Novermber totaled 2,438,301. In 2013 it was just under 2,400,000.

Well done on these tourist numbers and one can rest assured even the Thai tourists stimulate the economy by moving money from one pocket to another so win win all around.

It is this narrative the Junta cannot control that show it in a good light.

That's the whole point of money. No point keeping it in one pocket. Money should keep circulating.

Of course it stimulates the economy. That's what spending money does. If no-one spent money the economy would be completely dead.

Just to get this into some sort of perspective "visit Britain" have recently announced that 30 million visited Britain in the last year and spent 21B pounds, they are expecting a spend of 22B pounds for the coming year. Top attractions were Buckingham Palace, Stonehenge and the National Railway Museum. Non of which had any mention about bars and girls.

Your numbers are very suspicious. One, they are posted by Bangkok Bank, and how do they compile numbers more accurately than the laughable TAT? Everyone would love to know. Further, in 2012, 53 million people flew into Swampy, and your figures show that comparing November 2013 and November 2014 figures, 2014 edged ahead by 35,000 commuters, which equates to a 2012 year figure of an eight hour shift on an average day for arrivals -- and this is high season.

You are still buying what they are selling, and calling it a gift.

Reconcile that, you socio-economic philanderer.

Gee I must run out to the bank tomorrow and make a big loan so that I can boost the economy. Ooops that is what has gotten the whole world including governments in trouble in the first place. Savers are definitely being punished at the expense of borrowers that have no idea how to handle money. This party has to end badly

Most people that make big money actually do borrow money and they do know what they are doing. I made almost all my wealth from borrowed cash. Put simply, borrow at a low interest rate and invest in something that grows at a higher rate. UK property has given truly fantastic returns over the last few decades. Meanwhile, the savers who didn't borrow have next to nothing to show for it.

In any case, you don't have to lend money to help the economy. You earn it and spend it. The person that gets it spends it. That is what money is for. If you only save it, what's the point. It means you worked for nothing and will die with plenty of cash in the bank. Of course, you should serve some, but it's just a way of exchanging services and good.

Maybe you need a Money 101 lesson.

The average Thai woman is not that great, Have you seen how any ugly Thai women there are around? Not sure how you'd work out the average, but for every 10 there is at least one 1.

British women are pretty decent looking generally.
