CHIANG MAI, 30 December 2014 (NNT) - Chiang Mai Provincial Police Headquarters is joining the returning happiness to the people campaign for the New Year festival by opening the 191 emergency call center in order to ensure public safety.

Under the supervision of the Provincial Police Region 5, the call center is manned by operators to take all public calls around the clock. Once receiving the message, they will immediately coordinate with patrolling units serving at the nearest location to reach and help the callers.

The call center is equipped with computerized tape recorders and will direct its command to patrol police systematically in time to tackle the crime.

The newly-opened 191 emergency call center is one of the measures on crime suppression and accident control in Chiang Mai in the new year.

I applaud this effort and always welcome any effective proactive approach to the health and safety of the public. Let's hope that these measures will prove effective. My hope too is that this program is extended permanently and not only apply during the holidays.
