Nasty pop-up on OSX

Featured Replies

I have a popup coming into the bottom right of my screen which is repetitive to the point of being malevolent.

On a site I visit regularly it keeps coming up within seconds and actually covers the page list I need to click to operate.....the only way I can change to next page is to click X=, but lo it comes up again.

There is an option on the left to suspend for one day/one week/ etc.

It simply does nothing.

What's best?

Thanks

What a great answer Richcor this is where an online community is so useful.

Have turned off as you said and no add popped up.

Just wondering......the on off button on that tab is still on......is that any use and will not the adware from Slick Savings just come again?

thanks a lot

I would click and follow the instruction in the link I referenced and actually remove it.

The software the Cnet installer added is not considered harmful, but no reason to keep it on your system

Yes I removed all four.

That Slick Savings one was malicious IMO.

Especially given the button to stop it coming up inside the ad did not do that at all.

Was just wondering why Slick Savings would not just come back again.

That hotels ad was obviously triggered by me bringing up a similar type of page.

Still now you've shown me how to deal with it i always can.

I have the same problem as from this weekend on my mac, search quick has taken over my browser with several pop ups taking inturns to bombard me with rubbish, i pretty much nutted it out where i should look as in the instructions above but there are no extensions in extensions, its empty.

Had a smilar problem on my windows laptop and again nothing in extensions in the end i used hitmanpro to remove it, ive looked around from something like that for a mac but not come across anything yet.

Any help would be appreciated.
