Pond Life
Does anyone know where I can buy large sheets of Styrofoam, 8ft x 4 ft or at least 1m x 1m. Preferably extruded, but expanded would be ok. Thanks
elektrified
Every box shop has them as well as the box factories in San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai Plastics (Kad Luang), paper shop across from the railway station, etc. Wait...8 feet tall? Don't think you will find them that long.
RED21
How thick? Stationery shops around town should have them. Try DK bookstore.
Pond Life
Yes, big sheets the size of a sheet of plywood, but 1 meter long would do in a pinch. 1 inch thick or there abouts. Thanks so far. Edited January 5, 2015 by Pond Life
RED21
DK, Suriwong, and even the bigger B2S branches will have them. If you are near Bosang there's the Education Mall too.
CMKiwi
Home Mall on the way out to Mae Jo has big sheets of the stuff..... probably used as in house insulation methinks. Quite likely that Global and the like will also have the stuff.
wolfmuc
Hello Pond Life, take care. It's flammable and burns very easily. Really. - Try it out! W.
bamboozled
On the road that goes from the north-east corner of the moat to JJ/Kamtieng market, at the second traffic light across the intersection from Hualamphong bar, on the same side of the road, is a business that deals in packing materials so I gather from the sign out front which I believe has "foam" in the title. I've never been in but have always been curious as to what interesting items might be inside. It's very close to the old city so you might want to take a look. Pond Life
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out next time I'm in town.

We buy from them. Packing materials... Prices are not very competitive, however.
bamboozled
I have never noted the name of the place. The sign out front does say packing materials and "EMS foam" whatever that is....
eyecatcher
You can get the stuff up to 100mm thick in large sheets, though not seen it at Global for as long as I can remember. 1" 2" yes from the stationers, it comes in 600x1200 sheets. DK and Suriwong have it. Its flammable for sure but how many of you ever saw any of it catch fire? Its not the flames its the fumes that kill and we are talking 1970s ceiling tiles. The biggest problem I see is transporting it. If you try to carry that on a motorbike and it will be pulped in 5 minutes.....maybe the rider also! Pond Life
Thanks everyone, found what I wanted at Lanna Packing. But only in 600x1200 mm sheets, 26 B for 1".
