Android Google Maps - How to enable turn-by-turn navigation with voice?

Featured Replies

Sorry if it has already been answered.

I have a mobile phone with Android 5. Google Maps works well with GPS and 3G. I drive mostly in Bangkok and nearby provinces. After setting my destination, I would like to get turn-by-turn navigation with voice. I can only get written directions on the top of the screen as I drive (turn left at the next intersection ...)

Is it possible to get a larger tilted view and spoken directions?

Thanks

Unfortunately, turn-by-turn navigation with voice is not yet available on Google Maps for Mobile in Thailand and I don't know if Google has plans for it.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I have an IPad Air and an android phone. BKK is great but in the countryside the maps are a waste of time.

I have thought of buying one of the cheap £30 5inch car gps units available on ebay.

Has anyone on here experience of this units?

It says in 800m turn left. Keep right. Follow stright.

It not speaks as much as garmin or tomtom but it does for me.

If u want one thats speaks get free Waze from google.

I have Google maps on my Nexus Android tablet - i have full voice directions all over Thailand - and it is pretty good - I've used it in Bkk too.

Voice isn't available in Laos.

Check navigation settings to see if you have it set up.....I tick play over bluetooth but this doesn't work in some circumstances.

Google maps is best and it shows traffic

Yes, I used it during the last 3 weeks in Thailand.

Was good.

I have to say that I'm very much a supporter of Google maps - they DO have voice (go to settings) and it is very simple to use.

My OSM gets really annoying at times, but it does have offline maps....
