We don't know who it was, perhaps a previous tenant. Nothing was taken.

The locks are now changed.

I don't like the thought of someone having access to our house when only my wife and young son is at home.

We got wrought iron bars put on the windows and doors, they look decorational but serve a purpose, they keep out burglars and only My wife and i have the keys. the windows can only be opened from the inside in case of a fire.
