EC throws out several complaints against former government members' misconducts in snap election

BANGKOK, 8 January 2015 (NNT) – The Election Commissioner (EC) on Wednesday decided to throw out several complaints made against alleged election misconducts by former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra during the most recent general election in February, 2014.

According to EC deputy secretary-general Dussadee Pornsuksawat, the EC has lifted a complaint against Ms. Yingluck's declaration of an emergency situation and her proposal of the charter amendment. The complaint was made under the argument that the actions of Ms. Yingluck violated the EC's regulation on the use of state resources.

A complaint targeting Ms. Yingluck's address to the nation about the rice mortgage scheme, broadcast through TV pool, was also lifted. The address was made after Parliament had already been dissolved.

The EC was still investigating complaints about the then-ruling party having utilized the state-run NBT television channel to rally for votes, as well as complaints about the then-prime minister rallying for votes in the North and Northeast.

Just clearing the boards : Yingluck is to be allowed to walk free in return for Thaksin keeping his red dogs on a leash and his nose out of politics.

The outcome of this pantomime has already been decided.

Of course, once we get back to elections then it will be double-cross time. Thais are incapable of learning from history.

Decision goes against the yellow dem supporters and guess what?

It's good old thai bashing time!

Thais are incapable of learning from history or red voters are sheep or Thais are to immature to have the vote blah blah blah.

The only fact is that the yellow dems can't stand defeat in any arena .

I thought they would be use to it by now.

The EC may be acting less from reasonableness than from the threat of being deminimized in the new Constitution where it will essentially be regulated down to a government agency. They want to show they can really be relevant as an indepdendent organization.
