TR Visa, NZ citizen - please help me clarify details

Featured Replies

Hi all, read all the posts here on TR visas, but require clarification.

New Zealand passport holder who received a TR visa and entered Thailand on 30 Nov, with 1 entry.

My understanding was this is valid for 60 days after which I can visit an immigration office and get an extension for another 30 days.

How does the date of renewal work?

i.e., if I go to the immigration office today and get an extension for 30 days, will I be wasting the original 60 days? If so does it make sense to wait until say the 28th of Jan and go for an extension then?

Or, can I go get an extension whenever I want and I will still retain the original 60 days + 30 days? If this is the case, I would like to get it done soon. I am currently in Chiang Mai could you point me to which office I need to go to and what I need to take with me?

thanks,

You cna apply for the extension during the last couple of weeks, so now should be fine.. The extension will start when the current permission to stay ends., so you don't lose any days.

In Chiang Mai the office is a little down the road from Central Airport, on the way to the airport. You will need to take with you a copy of your passport (ID-page and stamped pages) and copy of arrival card and a passport photo. The extension costs 1,900 baht.
