Tourist Visa Extension Question

Featured Replies

I am currently on a tourist Visa for almost 60 days now so I believe that I will need to extend soon.

My question is would I be able to leave the country and come back at later time when I am ready to use up my last tourist visa extension?

If so, how would this process work?

If you are on a double entry tourist visa you can do this, just be careful you re-enter before the use by date. You can also get a 30 days extension on each visa entry, cost 1900 baht.

Do you mean the "enter before" date? And will I still be able to use the full 3 months left on extension if I come back days before the "enter before" date or will the time that I am gone still count towards my extension?

How many times am I allowed to get the 30 day extension for 1900?

Sorry I meant to say the "Enter before day". Once you re-enter you will have your 60 days stamp and then you can apply for a 30 day extension which will give you 90 days. You can get 1 extension for each entry. So on a triple entry visa you can get 3 extensions and double 2 extension and single 1 extension.

Amazing, thanks so much. So to confirm I understand correctly, after using all the tourist visa extensions, I can begin using up to 3 extensions, and there is no required order to use these 3 last extensions , I can use them after all my tourist extensions are used up?

No.

You apply for the 30 day extension towards the end of each 60 day stay.

You cannot save them up.

Ah okay I see haha

And in regards to the enter before date. Even if I come back to Thailand days before that date, they will still stamp another 60 extension right?

You will get a new 60 day entry (it is not an extension) as long you do it before the enter before date. You can do it weeks in advance of that date if you want.

Okay thank you. Last question, can I leave the country before my first tourist entry is used up and come back later (1-3 months) for a 30 day extension in regards to that first entry?

If you get a re-entry permit for 1,000 baht you could come back and keep your first entry, provided you return before the permisson to stay ends. Depending on yur travel plans it might be wise to get the extension for before you leave.

The re-entry permit will not add any extra days If you have permisison to stay till say 1 March and you leave on 1 Feb. to come back on 14 Feb, you simply can stay till 1 March.

No

You can only do the extension at the end of the 60 day entry.

The only way you could leave and return and get the 30 day extension would be if you got a re-entry permit for the 60 day entry.

You have edited your post.

You will probably not be able to use a re-entry permit with your given time frame and must also note that your visa might have expired.

You mention a triple entry visa. What visa are you referring to? I have a double entry tourist visa which I believe is the max amount of entries? Also what do you mean double 2 extensions and 1 single extensions? Please clarify

A 3 entry tourist can be obtained at some embassies and consulates.

Not sure what he meant.

You can get a 30 day extension for every 60 day entry the visa allows. You just have to do the last entry before the enter before date on the visa which will be 3 months or 6 months from the date the visa was issued.

A 3 entry tourist visa with 6 months validity can give you almost 9 months of total stay.

What I meant was for a Triple Entry Tourist Visa you can get 3 30 days extensions, for a Double Entry Tourist Visa you can get 2 30 day extensions, for a Single Entry Tourist Visa you can get 1 30 day extensions. As Ubon Joe said you can get 3 Entry Tourist from some Embassies. You need to apply for the extensions in the last 30 days of each entry, the cost 1900 Baht. You can do a search on thai visa.com, search TM7 and you can read all the forms and photocopies you need. I also complete the forms and get the photocopies done before I go to Immigration.
