PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 12 January 2015 (NNT) – Prachuap Khiri Khan province aims to upgrade the Singkhon border crossing into a trade and investment center of the ASEAN Community, said the governor.

The governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Weera Sriwatanatrakul revealed that the province has created the development strategy for the Singkhon border crossing that includes infrastructure development, public utilities development, urban planning, and landscape development.

He said the Singkhon border crossing is envisioned to be the golden gate of ASEAN that pushes the economy forward and will bring prosperity and a stable income to the society by functioning as a tourism destination and the center of trade and investment of ASEAN.

To achieve the goal, the Singkhon border crossing must be upgraded to a permanent border crossing to accommodate the increase in travel and enhance its connectivity to every ASEAN country, said the governor.

He has also mentioned that the province will be waiting for the conclusion of the Thailand - Myanmar Joint Border Committee for the certification of the border line between both countries at the Singkhon border crossing area.

It is expected that the Singkhon border crossing will be officially announced as a permanent border crossing within early this year, said the governor.

Been there once. But there is no paved road on the other side. No town or village either. Just some logging trucks running on mud roads.

Spot on. Anyone, who has ever been to the area, knows the the OP is pure nonsense.

But don't spoil the governors vision with something as boring as facts............................coffee1.gif

I was there last month and there is a lot of work being completed on the Thai side. Mainly seels to be setting up shops for selling wood products brought across the border from Maynmar. Could be a good move and the Governors vision for the future could be well founded if a little overstated at this time.

thats worthless

Since May 8th 2013 the border crossing was opened and an immigration office was built.

Without crossing the border you have a wonderful view of the Tenasserim Mountains of Myanmar.

i was at that border just for a look in July 2104 an it was not open for extension renewals

That's in 89 years time & still not open properly hahaha. Apart from retirement visa funds needing to be 15 Billion baht and 90 day report slips still being very important documents, what else can you tell us about the future?
