Actually, you ARE going to Cambodia proper as if you dont have a cambo entry/exit stamp, they wont let you back into Thailand. As for your original question, they basically accept anything. You change your cash into chip at the cashier first before playing and the notice shows all major currencies.

Might i suggest going into Poipet itself for a couple of beers and some food, there are a couple of nice bars and clubs and the cambos are very friendly :-)

Enjoy your trip mate and let us know if you win lol ;-)

The bets are all in Baht. The cashiers will change any money, and you buy your chips there not at the tables. For blackjack and pontoon the minimum bet is 100 baht, the side bet minimum is 25 baht. The tables are not fixed, last trip I won enough to pay for the room the next day. On weekdays the rooms are 1000 baht and you get 500 in chips (that must be played, not cashed). The exception is the Vegas casino, you get back 400 in chips, but they have a nice big pool now. On weekends they have promos for Thais so I would only go weekdays. The Diamond casino has a nice western eatery, Chillax.

Monopoly money would be best as you are going to lose it all. The tables are fixed.

"The tables are fixed. "

Sounds like someone is on a losing streak and, of course, it couldn't be bad luck or amateurish bets. It must be a conspiracy.

How exactly do they fix the Black Jack table? You mean the dealer is manipulating the cards dealt or do you mean they repaired a wobbly table leg?

( I am not planning to go to Camboda proper)

Your probably need a re-entry permit proper if you're on an extension of stay.

I learnt as a child in the penny arcades that gambling was fixed in favor of the house . The only money I have lost as an adult is on the English national lottery when I would risk one pound a week. I have met many people that like to brag about how much they have won gambling but when asked about their losses suddenly become quiet and shy discussing the subject further. I have only met 1 professional gambler who actually made his living from gambling but confessed that in his early days he lost heavily.

As I didn't know how the black jack tables are fixed I did a simple goggle search and found that removing a couple of 10 value cards increases the houses advantage more. This is Asia where corruption is in almost every aspect of of financial affairs.

I think it is best to remember never gamble more than you are prepared to lose.

In Gaming, the House always retains the edge. So, bet with your head and not over it. Take US Currency or Thai Baht as they do not accept the Cambodian Riel. I like the Crown Resort (Hotel Casino) in Poipet. Access their website and see their promotion. Plus, the food was good in the restaurant. Chok Dee! thumbsup.gif PS: I like the Osmach Casino in Osmach also.

Actually, and I can only speak for the Ban Prakard/Prum crossing, you CAN leave Thailand without getting an exit stamp. Just go with one of the touts and the border guards wave you through and let you back in.

You don't have to fix a poker table to make it unprofitable for a professional gambler - it all depends on the rake. My experience of Cambodian casinos is that the rake is usually set way too high. Having said that... the number of desperate fish at any game does offset that sometimes...

You will bet better odds in most Poipet Casinos on most games than you will in most western Casinos. It is a very competitive environment and with low overheads they can afford to offer alot more. It's one of the best places to gamble in the world.

Many experienced gamblers go there for the benifits.

Thanks for the reply regarding the Osmach Casino! The Missus and I always walk out with more than we walk in with. Our combined winnings pay for the trip and alot more. Chok Dee! thumbsup.gif

Poker is a fixed odds game. The only thing that affects profitability is the rake. I don't play roulette or blackjack or any other suckers' game... and it's worth noting that the only game in which the odds favour the punter anywhere in a casino is Craps (the dice game) and that's Las Vegas's biggest money earner. Fools and their money are soon parted.

Wrong

There's always one person whose beliefs fly in the face of evidence - in this case that's you. Check out the World Poker Series website where they explain the cost of the rake in Cambodia and why no professional poker play would take up their living here. That might help you get it through your head... the house always wins. (Not some of the time - always - you can win a little, you can win a lot but overall the house wins every single time).

The only reason people come to Cambodia to gamble is because gambling's illegal in Thailand, Vietnam, China, etc. and those folks either can't afford to go to the Australia, the US or Macau or can't get visas for them or can't spare the time to travel that far.

You keep going on about Poker. Poker is not a popular game in Poipet.

Your knowledge about Poipet and gambling is obviously limited although you seem to know a bit about Poker.

When is said you are wrong i meant that you are wrong about craps.

Craps has a healthy house edge and does not favour the punter. There are a few bets within the game that do not have a house edge but overall the odds are strongly in favour of the Casino.

Most people in Poipet play Baccarat and you can get 2% on your turnover. Tell me where a Casino in the west will pay that much?

If you are looking for a good casino to play at, go to Phnom Penh at the Naga Casino....But do not play poker there, the best place for Poker is River King poker room.

I been playing poker for 45 yrs now, and I have to say this is one of the best poker room in all of Asia....Poipet is a rip off.
