Joint development projects, border concerns feature in bilateral talks
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Thailand and Cambodia Joint Commission (JC) in its ninth meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation, focusing mostly on joint development projects and security concerns in border areas.

Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn co-chaired the meeting with his Cambodian counterpart Hor Namhong to discuss deforestation along the border and joint development areas for prosperity and friendship.

The two sides discussed development of special economic zones in Banteay Meanchey-Sa Kaew and Koh Kong-Trat, as well as ways to speed up the upgrade of border checkpoints.

The ministers updated each other on the upgrading of a border checkpoint at Stung Bot-Nong Ian, according to a Thai Foreign Ministry official. The checkpoint will promote transport links between the two countries and the region for the benefit of Asean Community, he said.

The pair also discussed preparations to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Cambodia this year.
