Despite her disabilities, Wan has an amazing spirit and is worthy of a lot more from life than she currently has.

PHUKET: -- If you are looking for something to do this coming Friday evening (January 23), and you want it to include generosity, then we would like to suggest you head to the Kangaroo Bar on Bangla Rd, Patong, where they will be holding a fund-raising function for a young woman named Wan, who works around Bangla selling various wares.

Wan was born with no hands and badly disfigured legs. She has an amazing spirit and is worthy of a lot more from life than she currently has.

The fund raiser is to assist in buying an Electric Mobility Scooter for her.

This mobility scooter will assist in raising her self esteem, perhaps create better job opportunities, and give her a great deal more independence in life.

Rodney Gothe, project manager of Anywhere on Wheels, who is in Patong, has had discussions with Pride Mobility Products in Australia.

Pride Mobility manufactures mobility scooters and modifies them for the different disabilities such as Wans.

Pride Mobility have responded in a very positive way indicating they can provide the scooter at cost price.

The Kangaroo Bar then plans to hold a presentation night in March for Wan, and present her with her new set of wheels/lease of life.

The event at the Kangaroo Bar will start at 6pm and all are welcome to join the fun and raise some money for a very good cause.

Class Act Media are proud media sponsors of the event.

Sounds like a good idea, but I do hope that they have discussed all this with Wan. I know her from many years ago and she has never had a major issue 'getting about' in Bangla Road, despite her physical problems.

As I say, if Wan has said that she wants this vehicle, then great and a worthwhile cause.
