Side license plate?

Featured Replies

Would it be legal to mount the motorcycle license plate on the side of the bike?

For bob-tail.

...and then ride it legally on the roads?

A little offtopic, sorry for that . Many sport bike riders attach their plates to the fender under the seat. It's a common practice all over the world. What problems can such installation entail here in Thailand? Do cops pay attention to this?

Yeah, why the hell not... :)

Come on, you know its only as illegal as the BIB want it to be. 100-200 baht ?

make sure to add blue hightlighting

In Patty? Sure!

There is §§34/1 in the vehicle license mounting law that clearly says: You are allowed to mount your plate wherever you want.

Print this in thai and keep it in your wallet...

I had mine under the bike close to rear shock and had no problems about it.

My chum has two Harleys with side plates....Never an issue.....so far.........smile.png

Plates are so big I don't think they look good anywhere you put them.

Yep. Thai number plate is like a sail, very big.

If it is mounted on the sides, lane splitting will be problematic too.

is there anything in the law that says the plate has to be flat? Make the bobtail from the plate! biggrin.png

tcp: I was considering just that.

I like the idea of the plate as a rear tire hugger but most bikes need a custom fabrication.
