Yep, Net Spend figures are meaningless on their own and that is obviously why The Guardian has written a column about them, no where do they mention, what revenue Spurs would have made if they had kept their best players" strange that !!!!!!

Premier League club-by-club net spending since 2012/13

Most pre-season predictions and assumptions are based on the wealth and ambition of clubs, as demonstrated by the swagger they show in the transfer market. If Manchester United have just broken the world record to re-sign Paul Pogba, for instance, because Mourinho says he is worth it, they must be about to make a similar-sized statement on the pitch. Ditto Guardiola at City, with his summer acquisition of John Stones, Ilkay Gündogan, Leroy Sané et al. A table based on net spending over the past five seasons obviously has City at the top and United in close pursuit, because no one has spent more and few clubs are as cavalier about wastage rate or resale value. Here is the difference with assumption and reality, however, the reason so many of those early predictions are wrong. Splashing the cash just wins you attention, it does not necessarily deliver results.

I have a feeling the hair dryer came out during the Wycombe cup tie.  And quite right too.  You'd have thought those guys would want to make an impression to the manager.  Instead, lackluster and no real leadership shown on the pitch.

Not impressed at all.

It also doesn't mention anything whatsoever about any type of revenue. Is that strange? Well no, not really because the article is about net spend and how the Chinese might blow the prem out of the water with big spending on players. The article is more like a blog than an in-depth analysis of the financials of football. What it does mention though is:-

Quote

There will be those who argue Spurs have not won anything in the last five years, not to mention failing to win a title in the last half century

As I said before Alfie. We will see next year how much extra revenue you generated by being in the Champs League this year.

As poch said  'if players coming in cant play in games like this ''' he almost  went on to say, but stopped short but it didnt take an instien to see what he had on the end of his tongue  , 'well we ' they , have a problem', and he's right. these palyers need to step up and take opportunities given to them , they  didnt

We won so they will get another chance in the next round.

Players who don't take it may find themselves leaving WHL in the summer.

Tottenham have astonishing net spend of just £1m over the last five years to put Premier League title rivals to shame (with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on £403m!)

Ouch! Guardian bootboys!

Finally you've got it ! might have to change your name to Trigger from Muppet, low net spend equals no trophies, now that wasn't difficult was it :cheesy::cheesy:

A very frustrating night that was!  We were slow and a little predictable in the final third with Sunderland well organized and sitting back.  For all our possession we caused them remarkably few problems.

Rodwell should have received an immediate red card and i have no idea what Lee Mason was thinking by only dishing out a yellow.

Wanyama really should have scored at the end but i kind of think Sunderland deserved their point.

Roll on Boro next weekend.  Looks like we've all got to try and hang in there with Chelsea and hope they slip up, which doesn't seem likely.

Yep, back to how we was before we started this run of playing good football,  looking like we are never going to break down a team !  it's strange that our main attacking impetus comes from the full backs and losing one of them as we did last night certainly affects our play.

In fact in a game like last night's we would probably be better off bringing on an attacking player as a full back rather than Davies.

Watching the replay another refereeing howler, not the first and certainly wont be the last the way incidents are unfolding

The standard of English refereeing appears to be in serious decline. Surely it hasnt always been so poor.

This was no different to the shove in the back Sterling got a week or 2 back from Walker, who admitted it to his credit, so not expressing this opinion from a club bias point of view.

This season is unpredicatable enough without referrees making glaring mistakes even a rookie wouldn't make.

Actually i believe statistically ref'as have  improved, certainly not got worse, what has improved immeasurably  is the level and standard of media coverage, wont b long b4 we'll have infer red showing 'possible' muscle movements. 30 secs after said incident you've got  up, bac shots which ever angle u want.great to watch , BUT imo overall not so good for the game, just  cements the media's job and makes the ref's look bad , which they arn't

Really must take three points from this and get back on track today.

COYS!

Its a must win.  Thats the position Chelsea have put us all in.

Scoring early is the all important thing.  It will open up the game other they'll just sit back and keep it as narrow as possible.

Our injury list goes from bad to worse!!

That will be a poor excuse if we don't win this one.

Its time for the players to show they really want it.

Disagree Middlesbrough are very stingy so if you come out with a scraping win you have done very good. 1-1

no divine right to win but still, they're a bottom half of the league team, and no matter what we  should be beating those teams

Borough have been extremely unlucky away so it's got to turn for them.  They are not fodder.

I rate their manager  but finishing is an issue for them and cant help knowing rameriz wants out, he's a class player, but ON 'him' not so sure, one 2 many moves 2 quickly, but still quality and negrado ,  decent  and freind  lb, half decent
