All I know is pochetino is no longer an inexperienced manager and has 9 years and zero trophies to show for it.

At this stage I'm guessing he's looking at the Spurs job and seeing a comfort zone whereby he can potentially compete with his rivals but without the right investments he may not taste success the same way most top sides taste it- winning.

The real Madrid job is a real opportunity for him if LFC win the CL and will provide him the instant challenge he possibly wants and needs as a top manager.

We're very happy with Poch as manager and Levy as chairman.

This crisis is cracking me up as we work on tying up new contracts for our players before the transfer window opens.

Doom and gloom for some as I read about new deals and our stars signing up to the Spurs vision.

Meanwhile our kids continue to knock at the first team door.

Happy days!

I've just seen on the BBC the rag reporting 'Poch will give Spurs another year'

Perhaps they don't know he has three years left on his contract.

Another CL campaign beckons actually with our squad more experienced overall in the competition.

I remember our first tilt at it and making a good run with a far inferior team minus Bale of course who was simply brilliant that season.

We've moved up several notches since then and will push on again sadly for you E/S....its a fight for fifth with Arsenal for you lad!

I'm not sure why anyone would discuss football with an Aussie, i know a lot of Aussies and none of them have a clue about football and our regular poster certainly falls in that category !

why not join the prediction comp next season as .u class yourself as a stat genius  which should give yourself a good start of  knocking e/s off his top perch.how about it???

I've managed to drag myself from the depressing news of our imminent bankruptcy to announce the new 5 year contract for Harry Winks.

Tragic times at WHL isn't it?

I should mention Carter-Vickers new three year deal.

What's the opinion on him then folks?

I'd like to see him in the squad next season as he has done well this season.

Let's also discuss our billionaire uid debt for the stadium as apparently it's come as a complete surprise to Daniel Levy who thought we were building it for free.

Alfieconn You are painting with a very broad brush or maybe its the company you keep that you dont know any Australians that dont have a culture of football and knowledge running through their veins.

If you talking about the orginal  Australians, ie the Abororiginal race ,true, they are great athletes in Rugby, AFL and track and field  but not many have found they way into the round ball game along with swimming, golf and tennis.I doubt they are amongst your friends.

For the rest of the population of Australia we are a nation of migrants based families steeped in football tradition.

Since WW2  1.5 m British people have made their way to Australia,my family included in 1952 with me as a 10 year old, very few have returned and most have taken up Australian Citizenship and now consider themselves Australians.

In 1952 my father would get football  newspapers sent from England to keep abreast of football news and there was no TV ,very little radio and of course no TV.Today the world is a smaller place. My father despite working at Scotland Yard was a fully qualified referee with the option of refereeing overseas and even an FA Cup.My Grandfather despite WW1 was a player of some distinction, you think  me playing since 1952 its not in my genes and 1,000's like me.

My old club has currently 7 British born players in their squad ,all have permanent jobs and have either taken out Australian citizenship or are about to.They are young and come from the lower leagues in England ,Wales and Ireland, they still follow their former clubs with a passion.

On Liverpools last trip to Australia over 90,000 people turned up to watch an A League side play them in Melbourne.

A friend who was there said it was like being at Anfield. You seriously thing none knew anything about football ?

Football, of the round ball variety at grass roots, is the fastest growing sport in Australia. The womens team, the Matildas are now ranked 6th in the world and this years beat Brazil and the US.The Socceroos are struggling as they are team in transistion but still made the WC.They won the last Asian Cup beating South Korea and Japan ,we are hardly a footballing backwater.

In the years to come more Australian players will move into a higher level than we have back home following Schwartzer,Adam Mooy ,Jedinac , Mat Ryan,Massimo Corey Luongo (QPR player  of the year) yes Italian parents and  Sydney born.

Finally my dear friend of 50 yrs ,team mate and business partner passed away 2 years back .He was born within a stones throw of WHL and played for Spurs,he migrated to Austraia in 1963 to play with us and thought of himself as an Australian in his latter years, while still retaining his English football heritage. He would know more about Spurs as a club than you ever will.

He stayed with us here in CM a few times and once viewed the Spurs thread and all the sometimes childish responses and remarked "why would you bother ?"

Hope thats got you up to speed about a subject you obviously have very little knowledge about.. Aplogies for length I am not into one liners

I truly hope ,for my old friends sake, Spurs do something special next season it would bring a smile to his face

Most Aussies follow rugby and AFL. However football is played by many and is growing. When i came here i played and coached for about 6 years before my son was born. I continued playing 5's every week before retiring through injury. But there is some truth in your statement. Alot of Aussies have no idea about football. Especially those over 50. But those younger tend to know alot more.

We're being linked with all kinds of rubbish.

Kluivert??

Go home son and take your agent with you.

I meant to type Winks the other day, not Dele.  All looking very positive.  Shame about Winks' injury, it could well have cost him an outside chance of the world cup they way he was playing.

Plenty of good quality players around, I know we can't afford an overpriced player like Mbappe but keep looking for talented younger players . Look for them in Brazil or Argentina. Bring them here and turn them into world class.

We're not short on good players balo....we need someone who can get behind a tight defence and another with the defence splitting capability of Modric.

Mate getting behind a tight defence is the least of your worries. It's getting the tight chairman to flash the cash that's gonna make or break the last 4 years of hard work.

Well according to posters on here we are skint and in debt, can't afford the stadium etc etc, so we haven't got any cash to flash !

I've got a fully completed 1981 Panini album in my mum's loft if that might raise a few quid.

Also got a few extra Alan Kennedy stickers no one wanted....bloody ugly bugger he was.
