To apply for a visa in Vientiane (report)

Hello!

I've just been to Vientiane to apply for a Non-B visa and am going to

make a report on it now.

I got to The Thai Consular Office on Bourichane Rd at 6:50am on

Monday this week. I was the second to be there.

The gate opened at 8:20am and I proceeded to the counter where

I submitted the documents and then moved into the building to pay

for the fee at the bank counter. I got there at 8:45am but it didn't

open till 9:10am. I left the office at 9:15am.

On my way back to the gate I saw such a long queue. I had no idea

how many applicants were in line.

The next day I got back to the office at noon, and then gate opened

before 1:30pm. My number was 29. I talked with a Western woman,

who said that she had come to the office past 9am and left there past

3pm the day before. Her number was 400's.

I bumped into a Lao woman on the bus back to Thailand that I had met

at the office an hour before. She said more than 600 applicants had

come to the office on Monday. I'm not sure...

Great news you got your visa.

I try to warn people about Mondays. But you beat the crowd because you were already in Vientiane.

Thursdays are bad also.

Thank you for your consideration!

There's still a long way to go, to be honest. I must go back to BKK for

a (provisional) teacher's licence next week, go to the local labor office

twice to apply for a work permit and then to the local immigration office

to make a 1-year extension!!

Most of the Farang applicants I talked with at The Thai Consular Office

came from Chiang Mai (they flew back and forth between Chiang Mai

and Udon).

I was also at Vientiane on last Monday for my Non-O Visa, I arrived about 11:10am & got #486, was all done at about 2:30pm ish. Got back to the Thai Consular Office at 10:45am the next day to be #1 in the que to collect my Visa, easy peasy lemon sqeezy
