Standing Desks are really trending now around the world.

Do you think there is a big enough market in Thailand (between both foreigners and Thai's) to support sales of 200 desks per month?

They would be high quality standing desks in the 1,999THB price range.

Seperate question: Do you think there are enough foreigners here to support 100 sales per month?

Did you get the digits wrong?

Standing desks are rather pointless if they are not height adjustable.

Those digits could be correct under the right circumstances.

But not electric as they are 20,0000THB and up even in the "west"

Objective is an affordable but adjustable solution.

The cheapest "sitting" desk one can buy at Homepro costs 1,890 baht.

Hard to see how a good quality --height-adjustable-- standing desk would cost under 2,000 baht.

I'm interested. Is the top tilted or level? What material and how large?

You can already buy the electric ones here already, I have got one in my office, think you have your prices wrong, for THB 1999 it can only be a POS

A non adjustable standing desk is called a bar counter

Morakot.

Its a killer desk...been working on it a long time and its perfect.

More seeking thoughts on the market potential at the moment rather than looking to provide details of the desk itself.

Soutpeel....thanks...where did you buy your desk in Thailand? I cant find them anywhere.

Got no idea where they bought them, came into the office one day and they had changed my existing one for an electric one

Yes, I'd say potential is definitely there.

I'm not asking for the specification, but about the general concept. Small/medium/large, tilted or not, storage or not, handwriting or keyboard work, monitor capable. All this is fairly relevant for your gauging potential exercise.

This sounds like a combined sitting and standing desk. Isn't?

A standing desk is a necessity for me -- absolutely can't stand (no pun) sitting all day.  Drives me crazy to be stuck in a chair for even 2 hours, leave alone the whole day.   I think it's going to be a whole while before the concept catches on in Thailand though.  I'm often surprised how much they like to sit.  Sometimes I teach 6-hour seminars and after a couple of hours offer them them the chance to work in groups on a whiteboard, and usually they still prefer to continue working seated.  I'm sure there's a market, but 200 units a month, who knows?

OP, if it's that shelf system you're selling for 2,000 Baht, I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I wasn't leaving Thailand this year.  Will look for something like that when I get to my new destination.

Standing desks are a trend that's already peaked. They've been discovered to increase the risks of carotid atherosclerosis ninefold because of the additional load on the circulatory system, and using them also increases the risks of varicose veins.

We have ones similar to this in our office.  They go on top of a normal desk and you can raise or lower to stand or sit according to your taste/mood/comfort.  I think they're great.

Sure, but you could equally say there are risk factors for sitting all day.  It's about variety.
