Police study shorts found in rape victim's home
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police are examining a pair of shorts and the contents of its pockets to identify a rapist who allegedly assaulted 10 elderly women in the provinces of Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom.

The shorts were discovered at the home of the third victim - a 61-year-old woman in Samut Songkhram's Bang Khonthi district. Other than semen, police also found a piece of wood, nylon fibres and the remains of a bug in the pockets.

Crime Suppression Division deputy chief Pol Colonel Kornchai Khlaikleung said the piece of wood could indicate that the suspect worked with trees, while the nylon fibre could suggest fishing activity. The shorts also look like something that people wear at home, so it could mean that the suspect lived in the area at that time, he said.

He added that the attacker might be about 173 to 175 centimetres tall judging by the 26cm footprints found in the area, which also meant he had been scouting the area for several days before attacking the victim.

In Nakhon Pathom province, police are checking footage from 12 security cameras for clues and are asking provincial administrative officials to help compare fingerprints at the victims' homes to those of the 100 recently released convicts in the area. In the province's Sam Phran district, where some 30 elderly women living alone might be targeted, police officers have been dispatched on patrol boats down the Tha Chin River and canals from 10pm until morning daily. The patrol boats were also present at Buddhamondhol and Nakhon Chaisi districts.

Maybe, look for a man with No Shorts...

Perhaps the famous bomb detector can be modified to sniff out the person who has the same scent on those shorts.

but the shorts were sold, before the rapes started, to a Burmese immigrant. Thai police don't behave like this.

Do you think - and this is only a suggestion - that there will be lots of shorts-sniffing going on?

Crotch area nasal detection devices will be in full use.

(Noses.)

the remains of a bug in the pockets.

I do hope the women victims were tested for sexually transmitted diseases...this guy had a bug in his shorts...gads...

Breaking news according to skid marks in shorts the perp is fond of bugs for snacks and dosen't wipe or wash butt. When caught he will be right handed And will be a Thai Who is either with The RTP or is former RTP officer. Because he seems to be familiar on how they investigate crimes.

Give the shorts to my dog he will sniff out the perpetrator

"Thai Police Study"...

It's about time they learn to study something other than Godfather movies.

Years ago when the air con on Thaksin's plane exploded and he claimed it was an assassination attempt using a bomb he gave the BIB a month to solve and suggested they watch CSI episodes to learn scene of crime procedures. Thainess in all its glory.

Maybe, look for a man with No Shorts...

Fishing, in the woods or with a woody ?

"The shorts also look like something that people wear at home, so it could mean that the suspect lived in the area at that time, he said."

Good grief!

So, semen was found in the pockets and the piece of wood suggests the owner worked with trees......nylon fibre suggests a connection with the fishing industry......I hope this is just flimsy translation and not the actual line of detective work.
