HDMI Splitter

Featured Replies

I have a PC with one HDMI output and one DVI output on my video card. I have connected my TV using the HDMI and the monitor using the DVI.

I guess that's all the video card will support.

Now I want to connect a second TV (both are LG Plasmas) to the computer. I guess I need some sort of splitter. I bought something off the internet from DealExtreme for a few hundred baht. Didn't work.

I actually don't need to view both at the same time, although that would be convenient. A switch would be OK.

I'm wary of buying cheap Chinese crap at Pantip and actually hope never to go to Pantip again.....ever. I hate that place.

Any suggestions as to what I should buy and where? Approximate price?

Thanks!

You're right about Pantip these days. It has really deteriorated from what it once was. A few years ago there was a long waiting list to get a shop in Pantip even in a bad location. Now it seems that every third shop is one of those here today gone tomorrow crap sellers where everything is the cheapest of the cheap except the price.

Unless I absolutely need something urgently I order all cables, accessories etc. from China via eBay or Aliexpress. Generally you will receive your order in 10-20 days. Small items from China are never stopped by customs and you get it right to your door. eBay's buyer protection is better than Aliexpress so there are less dodgy sellers. With either of them you won't lose your money but it can waste your time. Out of probably a hundred purchases on Aliexpress I've had 5 or 6 where they've tried it on but from eBay I've never had an issue.

There is plenty of cheap junk from China/HK eBay sellers too but at least the price matches the quality.

For example: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2059210.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xhdmi+splitter&_nkw=hdmi+splitter&_sacat=0

Got one of these and it works fine. I use it to feed a TV and a Projector.

Thanks! That's exactly what I need. Unfortunately I don't know where to go in Bangkok to buy such an item. All the places I went to just sell 4 in 1 out switches or obvious Chinese junk splitters. Anyone know where to buy a product like the one above of reasonable quality?

Thanks. A previous poster suggest Ebay China. I didn't know it was in English. Thanks. I couldn't resist giving this a try but will likely buy the invade IT product when it doesn't work. :)

At least it's cheap Chinese crap instead of overpriced cheap Chinese crap.......

OP, you're trying to use the splitter in reverse to what they're made to do.

Huh?

A splitter "Splits" one output into more than one. That's why it's called a Splitter.

You're thinking of a switch, which allows you to switch between multiple inputs or outputs.

A splitter would need an independent power source.

What has that got to do with you telling the OP he's asking for the wrong thing?

Well, China Ebay paid off. 390 baht for the splitter and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the tip about China Ebay thedemon.
