Mandatory SIM card registration in Thailand starts today

My DTAC Happy response by the USSD code returns a more precise answer within seconds listing my years, months and days of service and passport ID number that I no longer use. So I guess they have me clearly ID'd.

When they ask you how your 3rd beer tasted last night and whether that nasty rash went away when you used that stuff the doctor prescribed, I'd ditch the phone, ID'd or not.

It's all a "crock of shlt" anyway.

In 6+ months a Terrorist just puts any olde SIM into his bomb phone (it will still receive calls under the new legislation crazy.gif.pagespeed.ce.dzDUUqYcHZL4v7J7m ) and gets his/her accomplass to trigger it from somewhere overseas. AND If they need to correspond anyone with half a brain can do it anonymously.

These "fruit loops" cant be serious! IMHO it's just a regeneration of previously attempts to register which will be doomed to failure - The telecoms will not tolerate the loss of revenues from millions of phone users! AND, at the end of the day, have more power than any bullshit the generals can throw at them.

Edit:- Shlt spelt correctly

Is there a website where you can enter your phone number to check and see if it's already verified ?

I got my pre pay sim direct from the DTAC office in Siam Paragon and gave them full contact information some 5 years ago.

So am I registered or not ?

I saw something on Thai social media the other day that said you can check if your SIM is registered by dialing

True *151#

AIS *141#

dtac *102#

To add...

If you do this to dtac (add *9), you will get English. So,

Dtac *102*9#

Sorry don't know about true and ais

If I were an enterprising bar girl - just sayin' - for a couple of hundred baht I'd offer to register a SIM card for someone who doesn't want to be tracked by the Thai government.

Great business idea, right up until the day the SWAT team beats down her door looking for the person using the phone registered in her name.

A more likely plan would be phone theft, just for the SIMs, but that comes with its own set of problems.

My other sim

This is exactly what I receive on *141#, my SIM was registered a few months ago

You believe so tongue.png

But this is obviously the message that it is not registered and that you please show up in person at AIS service.

As Thai is allowed here, the text that I got (same as in pic):

ไม่พบข้อมูลแสดงตนของคุณ

กรุณาแสดงตน

ที่จุดบริการAIS

If this is a law to prevent terrorists using a mobile phone as a detinating device, then a stolen phone could be used. No, this is a law to eavesdrop on calls and to track down ppl posting anti government protests on the social media. Similar to the patriots act in the US. Big brother knows who you are.

It also has the added benefit of being able to identify prank or heavy breathing callers.

Damn...no more heavy breathing for me then when I'm in Thailand

This is what my laborious dictionary translation got too: something like

"no data shown please assist by coming in person to AIS office."

Not bad indeed.

I just dropped the Thai in google translate and it came out as

"None of your presence.

Please presence

At the AIS Service"

Went online via cel phone to AIS and determined my sim to be unregistered. Then, Walked up to the AID desk yesterday and the "specialist" played dumb at first, then when I insisted she referred me to my bank. <deleted>?

oh well so much for that

I needed a new sim to activate my older iPhone

and no sweat no ID

Life goes on afterall

Until end of July there will surely still be activated SIMs without registration.

There is no word about the existing SIMs (in the shops etc.) already being deactivated.

But that does not mean they stay active forever.

1st of August will be the date of truth tongue.png

(will the script be run over the home location registers or not)

Wait and see whistling.gif

 • 3 weeks later...

AIS on2call response for *151# is in English now:

You haven't registered your prepaid SIM. Please bring your IDCard/Passport, SIM, device and contact AIS Shop/Telewiz/AIS Sales Points within 31Jul15 (code ...... )

The 6 chars code at the end of the message was different for two SIM cards I tried to register.

I was told registration can be done using this app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.co.pixilla.nbtc&hl=en

But I'm not able to download it from Google playstore as it's "not available in your country" crying.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong... Please.

Any Alien (foreigner) can enter Thailand and use their foreign unregistered mobile simm card and mobile phone without registration under the current regime. The foreign registered simm cards could easily be used for nefarious purposes as they have often already been used in the deep south for several years already.

No?

If not, then what is the purpose and function of these new regulations?

one2call notification language can be changed here:

https://aiseservice.ais.co.th/eServiceWeb/

You can also disable advertising there. First switch to English and then just go trough all settings and you will find language and notification settings.

I can't find these settings. I see the menu to disable ads but this is a disabled and set to english already.

go to

Main page

>

Other Services

>

SMS Preference/Cancellation

I can change everything for advertising here:

smspreferencetvjjb.png

but there is a second place where SMS language settings can be changed, and it's here:

Main page

>

*700 One Number for Service

>

Changing IVR & SMS Language

changingivryap5n.png

and this one is changing SMS language for USSD codes, at least I receive it in English.

Don't select "change IVR & SMS language" it didn't work for me, I had to select and change IVR and SMS one by one
