Mathayom 1 entry exam February 2015

Featured Replies

Please could someone point me to a page/site which details what students are actually supposed to do/know for this exam. I understand its purpose, though not happy about 'quotas'; but can find no information on the substance of the test. In what way is it different from the P6 ONET exam students have just done?

You could PM if easier

Many thanks

I'd say that this exam would be specific to the school which your children/students want to attend, as opposed to a national exam (like O-NET). It's possible that it may even be specific to an English/Bi-Lingual/Gifted program, or even simply a test to determine which class the students will be placed in once they start at high school.

As I think for private schools (and demonstration schools), they are allowed to turn people away, and thus can conduct entrance exams (Which will then also probably dictate which class they're assigned to). But I don't think government schools can turn students away, and thus any exams would likely more be for assigning students to appropriate classrooms.

So in answer to your question, I don't think anyone will have too much information regarding these tests, as they'll be specific to the school. Your student's/children's best bet, is probably to just study what they learnt in P6, as any test will likely be based on the same curriculum (But you never know, it's Thailand, so it could be based on something completely different).
