Popular Post Tatsujin
What's the problem, if they are operating illegally, arrest them, fine them, jail them. Job done.
Popular Post konying
i could be wrong, but the yellow plate taxi's are just as illegal as the black. Why? because despite having yellow plates, taxi numbers and meters, they never ever ever turn on the meter. Is it NOT illegal?
andygunther
Start using your meters then and there will be no need for anymore illegal taxis - simple innit!! Yes, None of them use there meters. I don't use the Taxis in Pattaya anymore.... 200-1000 meters = 100 B
KittenKong
Start using your meters then and there will be no need for anymore illegal taxis - simple innit!! Yes, None of them use there meters. From what I hear the GrabTaxi ones do, though they also apply a surcharge. If I used taxis at all I think I would favour those ones.
joepattaya1961
A group of over 100 taxi-drivers.............some years ago Pattaya City proudly announced the 25 metered-taxis.......maybe this number has doubled over the years, but 100? I guess it's about legal and illegal songtaews; many hotels have their own "songtaew" and at the BigC's, Tesco's and probably other places you will find other (illegal) songtaews too. somchaismith
It would be nice if there was a jet-ski operators war. Who really gives a toss. It's the same as going to Kao Tao - as there is that much information on the www, relating to both of these matters, a blind man should know to avoid each like you would the plague. 2fishin2
The new boys tried to clean up phuket of this. Usual news media coverage of events etc....as usual here, there is no staying power or followup of rules, regulations. Back in force as usual, same haunts same taxis, same same.
iReason
"Police who arrested one man but had to release him shortly after due to lack of evidence as the firearm thought to have been used during the incident could not be located." How about a paraffin test? Yeah, right. Silly me... And what's with running to Daddy Army all the time? The "Police" can't (won't) even sort out illegal Taxis? Nemesis7
Imagine how helpless the passengers can be with this violent type taxi drivers who carries weapons too. They had to call Army to intervine Taxi drivers dispute?? Example of Thainess
MrWorldwide
I refuse to use any of the yellow taxis - one of the most blatant ripoffs in Pattaya. No surprises that someone else is lowballing them and getting their business. As mentioned earlier, they could save on the cost of installing meters given that they dont bother turning them on anyway - even the scoundrels in BKK will turn the meter on unless it's an agreed price from the time you get in. balo
Only idiots use taxis in Pattaya. Use a 10 baht bahtbus or walk / bicycle. It's good for your health.
Jingthing
Only idiots use taxis in Pattaya. Use a 10 baht bahtbus or walk / bicycle. It's good for your health. Sure but large sections of the city aren't really covered well by that service.

Basil B
By that reasoning meter taxis should have the word meter painted out then... Maybe a closer look at their insurance as well. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...
MZurf
The GrabTaxi option has been available in Pattaya for some months now. Would love to hear some comments/feedback on this service.
