He is wanted on international fugitive lists for molesting underage girls and possession of child pornography.Immigration police said Michelsen was a frequent visitor to Thailand, entering the country on Aug. 4 on a 30-day visa waiver stamp in his passport. I’m surprised that as soon as he became a fugitive, details weren’t provided to Interpol. I mean in Thailand you are dealing with immigration police. He didn't enter on any sort of visa. He entered using a visa exempt entry as was made clear in the article. If one applies for a non-imm O-A visa, you do need to supply a police report. Entering on a non-imm O or converting from a visa exempt entry or tourist visa entry to a non-imm O for the purpose of retiring does not have that requirement. More importantly, if someone is sought for a major crime back in his home country, shouldn't the police in that country lift his passport or shouldn't immigrations in that country be able to identify him when he attempts to leave? The competence of the police and immigrations officials in the country where the crime was committed and where the accused has been identified ought to be the first place to point the finger of blame. Thai police seem to have to deal with so many foreigners who have slipped through the fingers of the authorities back in Farang Land (or who paid some tea money to the corrupt farang police) you have to really wonder whether those farabf officials are totally clueless. If I remember correctly, when I applied for my first retirement Visa, a police report from my home country was required. Visa renewals did not require it. If I remember correctly, when I applied for my first retirement Visa, a police report from my home country was required. Visa renewals did not require it. Bizarrely you have to get a police report to get a retirement visa outside of Thailand but not a retirement extension within Thailand. As I mentioned, if anyone actually started checking the bona fides of all people with long visas and extensions the departure lounges would be full. Secondly it is almost incomprehensible that a person derives such pleasure out of hurting and abusing young victims in order to satisfy his pathological needs. Just for a while, and if they get better at preventing them coming in, it would be a temporary inconvenience with a beneficial end! It may be a little quieter on some of the more notorious streets, but that would be a good thing. The boiler rooms and estate agents and pseudo lawyers and financial advisers could be then addressed!
