BANGKOK: -- The National Anti-Corruption Commission has notified former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra to show up at the Office of the Attorney-General on February 19 at 10 am so she will be formally indicted with the Supreme Court’s criminal division for political office holders, said NACC chairman Panthep Klanarongrun.

Ms Yingluck is facing charge of dereliction of duty for failing to stop massive corruption and losses in the government’s rice pledging scheme.

As for the corruption case against former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyaphirom and his associates for their involvement in the fake government-to-government rice deal with China, Mr Panthep said that officials at the NACC’s office were coordinating with their counterparts at the OAG about this case file which is expected to be submitted to the OAG next week.

The former prime minister who is currently in Chiang Mai for home visit this morning conducted merit making in remembrance of her ancestors at Thammasamakkhi monastery under tight military escort reportedly to give her security protection.

Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over

Mr.Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream

Mr Sandman (aka The Man in the Sand) can't help you now.

Payback will never happen for the families of those farmers who sadly ended their lives out of desperation last year. But some justice is now being served.

Try telling the truth. The protest leaders campaigned for those with deposits with the banks to withdraw their money if they lend it to the government to pay back the farmers. Anyone should be indicted for any farmer death its Suthep and his gang. Plus the fact that I look at any farmer who took his own life because of the debt and left his family and children with this debt is a coward.

How many farmers committed suicide? Suicide is committed by people with mental health problems not because they didnt get a couple thousand baht rice subsidy.

How many innocent children and teachers have been murdered by the terrorists in the south since the junta black shirts took over?

???????. how do you know they got mental health problems do they speak to you from the grave .....dr know-all

All people that commit suicide have mental issues.

And using that argument for a political discussion is disrespectful to those people and their families.

So now answer my simple questions.

Of course the junta is all about accountability of Ying. They need to hold the new PMan to the same standards also. But we know that wont happen....

It is an unfortunate fact that farmers have the highest suicide rate in Thailand, going back to at least 1960 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1132862.

By occupation farmers show the highest suicide rate;

Many factors would cause this, and currently low prices for rice and rubber would be a contributing factor. This is just not in the news now because these unfortunate incidents are not being politicized and used as a tool by a despicable group, trying to curry political favor from tragic circumstances.

Wilsonandson - should the junta now take responsibility for any farmer suicides this year as a result of their agriculture policies? Should there be payback?

did any of the former PM's got charged "for failing to stop massive corruption" within the:

-RTP

-Army

-Education system

-every government agency

etc...

but at least the have to start somewhere...

You have a point. Now which policies did former PMs initiate, knowing through previous experience that the policies were hotbeds of corruption, and without making any attempt to reduce that corruption or improve the efficiency of achieving its stated aims? Did they personally benefit from these policies, as Yingluk did with her (brother's) corrupt vote-buyer which helped her into office?

If she doesn't attend this time (19th) that should surely be enough to forcibly detain her. The arrogance and contempt for law enforcement agencies are beyond a joke now. How much of this contempt will they take. And how much contempt will the people take. They know precisely the game she is playing and how despicable is.

Rule of law and justice for all. Her money and connections should not influence it either for a positive or negative outcome. But it surely will

Sorry to disappoint you but,

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/799039-dr-visanu-says-ncpo-has-the-power-to-disallow-ms-yingluck-to-leave-the-country/

Mr Visanu however admitted that he had no idea about the reason why the NCPO didn’t allow Ms Yingluck to go abroad.

He further explained that there was no need for the ex-premier to appear before the court when the Office of Attorney-General is due to formally indict her.
